Let’s say it’s widely available here, we do have some nice pastries all over Europe and for a good price. Can’t speak for Arkansas, those kind can be found in the US… Portuguese Pastel de Nata is really good, amongst others.

Kicking off Budapest Beer Week tasting session #2 with a dry hop lager from Bereta in Romania called Clever Ways to Overcome Difficulties. Perfect for the 80° weather here!

Another Hazy Day from brand-new brewery Unity in Budapest, the first actual Hungarian beer I’ve had at one of these tasting sessions

    Hey hey BA!!

Apologies for posting sans beer, but a few of you have reached out over the past couple months I've been MIA wondering wtf haha. I really appreciate that!!

I'll be back for sure. Many years ago I swore I'd never quit drinking again!

Busy times in the thick of the NE mountain running circuit here this year.

I've had a stockpile of Heady and Urquell in the fridge staring at me each time opened haha.

Not sure when... but eventually I'll get to crackin' them bad boys and join ya at the VB.

    Cheers Everyone!!

Cc: @eppCOS @Beersnake Hoping all is well with your various wild endeavors!

Awesome, glad to hear you’re in beast mode
Your chair at the bar is safe
    And Mom called
Between mountains, could you stop by the Market Basket and pick up cookies for your dish to pass for Sunday brunch

Someone said yesterday I could post ‘em all from BPBW. Maybe I won’t go that far but here’s two more

Mojo Workin 25, a WCIPA from Budapest brewery Monyo.

Backtank Boys cold IPA, a collab between First in Budapest and Brauhaus in Austria.

This venue is super cool, huge outdoor area with tons of seating (unlike every other festival I’ve ever been to), and even this peaceful little wooded beach on the Danube. 14/10 would recommend!

    Egészségedre!

    G'day all!

81°F predicted for today, 90° predicted for tomorrow. Bring it!

I'm sipping on another favourite of mine and yes, another desert island beer for me.

    Prost!

Special Pretzel helles from Ugar in Hungary.

We Are Toxic, a spicy-ish tomato gose from Etyeki Sörmanufaktúra. It’s surprisingly not too bad! I toured their brewery last year, and they’re maybe my #2 favorite brewery in Hungary after Brew Your Mind.

Also pictured is a big ass Untappd-powered leaderboard which tells you real-time the festival favorites. Kinda cool.

Happy weekend to all! and Cheers!
    Endless yard work continues today.
After dreaming about firebirds and flying I awoke this morning to an old Groucho Marx tune in my head called Lydia. One of the verses is something like:

She once swept an admiral clear of his feet
The ships on her hips made his heart skip a beat
And now the old boy is in command of the fleet
'cause he went and married Lydia

It’s your intrepid BPBW correspondent back with another update!

Kask, a birch-flavored lager from Põhjala in Estonia that I didn’t even realize was gluten-free when I ordered it, but I never would have guessed it. I’ve also retreated back to the relative peace of the river.

Ārpus of Latvia are definitely the hype brewery of this fest — one of their beers is a collab with Drekker, which should give you a good idea of what they do . For like the last hour they’ve just had a “sold out” sign up in their booth … guess they musta found another keg, because this is literally the only booth here with ANY line and there’s like 50 people in it :joy::joy:

Everytime iv been to Europe I really enjoyed the bread selection. I specifically remember some excellent bread in France. Croissants were top notch. We're definitely behind on the bread game here. And just the amount of bakeries y'all have, it's really cool imo. It seems like you can bet $ there's a bakery within walking distance just about everywhere you stay. So it seemed like that anyway.

Finally got to a beer I've been waiting a few weeks to pop open.

Full review linked above, full New Beer Weekend #254 take linked here. Bottom line, these collaborations many times don't live up to the respective brewery reputations, but this was not the case here. A classic, delicious pine dry and bitter old school WCIPA, with just a pinch of tropical flavors. Well done Firestone Walker @ Odell, and hope one day to make it to the FW Invitational going on today / this week.
