What beer are you drinking now? #4616

I've told this story before, but the first time I drank that beer, ten years ago or so, I drank three cans in a row. I didn't really have much experience with TIPAs at the time, and I never did that again.

 

1) Drekker Bit By The Party Animal (8.4% no canning date): A NEIPA from North Dakota with Citra, Nelson, Idaho 7, Nectaron and Maui Nelson Hop Kief for flavors of orange, grapefruit, pineapple, tropical peach and strawberry smoothie.
versus
2) Toppling Goliath Mind Your Unwind (8.5% canned 5/12/25): A NEIPA from Iowa with Nelson Sauvin, Simcoe, and Krushhop with flavors of orange flower, grape, bright berries, and pine. (Correctly matched the two blind)

Drekker vs. Toppling Goliath IPA Battle. First is Drekker, a fresh release with some great hop combo of Idaho 7, Nelson, Nectaron. Intensely tropical flavors of peach cream and strawberry smoothie. Interesting flavors here from the hop comboe and very smoothie-esque. You'd really think there was peach or strawberry juice added here.
Next is Toppling Goliath and Hop Butcher collab. Mind Your Unwind. Fantastic hop combo here as well with the Nelson and Krush.
Really like both of these, but hard to beat Toppling Goliath and Hop Butcher combo.
Winner: Toppling Goliath Mind Your Unwind

 

Love that mug!! I had that same mug growing up but it said "Whistle for your milk", my dad's said "beer". Wow, there's a blast from the past!

Yeah, definitely.
It was a really good ale.
I should have grabbed a few of their other offerings to bring home, but the cooler & trunk are full.
I had the ale at a winery, so I can't attest to the brewery itself though.

 

Another Belleflower A Sense of Belonging - good beer ...

 

Yeah, not surprised entirely, just feel bad for these folks who try but can never reach any level of above-average. I really liked the kid (err.. young man) who owned and brewed at Metric, but when I tried to give some feedback.... kinda fell on deaf ears. Oh well.
Cerberus, Westfax, Urban Animal seem to be the only folks who know how to brew to style, at least. Cheers!
