I take a statin, and the pharmacist told me not to take it with grapefruit so I avoid grapefruit laced beers. I take Atorvastatin (aka Lipitor) and it's one that is affected.

Grapefruit juice can interact with certain statins, potentially increasing blood levels of the statin and raising the risk of side effects. This interaction is due to grapefruit juice inhibiting the enzyme that breaks down some statins. It's generally best to avoid or limit grapefruit consumption if taking statins.

Maybe I'm being paranoid, but I don't want to find out the hard way. I've seen several grapefruit laced beers I'd like to try, but avoid them for this reason. Cheers!!!
