Today’s first entry in What Hungarian Beer Are You Swilling Now (h/t @mactrail ) is actually a Romanian beer, Age of Exploration DDH DIPA from Hop Hooligans. Yum!

Good day BAs! Thanks @Shanex for opening the bar.

It rained most of yesterday, AGAIN - looks like those raised beds I put in a couple of years ago were a good idea. Bong gao peppers are mostly blooming and the zucchini is taking off like the weed it is.

Today's New Breakfast beer, surprisingly the first I've had from this brewery:



Straffe Hendrik Xmas Blend from Brouwerij De Halve Maan. Four-pack of 11.2 fl oz bottles. Reviewed 15/06/25 (Review 3541). Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Final impression and summation: 4.25 Uncredited label artist. Both flavor and nose are pleasing and less heavy-handed than most of the quads I’ve experienced.
I'd drink this one again.

Next up is Brew Your Mind’s K.A.F.É., a hazy brewed with unroasted green coffee beans. It’s pretty damn good. BYM are one of my top 5 favorite breweries in the world, let alone in Hungary.



And since @Shanex started us off with Aerosmith, I’m gonna post this video which just gives me a lot of joy. I may have posted it on WBAYDN before but I don’t care: it’s great

Brasserie Superbe (France) DDH IPA Mosaic / Azacca.,. Cheers!

Spent time with my son (who lives here) and my daughter (visiting from the US), at the Sunday farmer’s market.

Scored organic veggies & strawberries, a fresh loaf of organic sourdough bread, Greek dolmades, a wedge of cow’s milk cheese infused with funugreek (out of this world!), and a rotisserie chicken.,. Let’s feast!

 

My sister-in-law is from Belarus so she gets two Mother's Days -- the American one and International Women's Day.

It's good to be multinational!

 

OK, I think this'll be my final beer while I'm here in Hungary. "All the Best and Still Fuck the Rest" from Brewing Vibes in Debrecen, Hungary's "second city". A DIPA is appropriate here, as it's bittersweet, like the end of this adventure.

Happy Father’s Day BAs! After a hike along the coast this morning, it’s coffee time - “Wake Up World Wide Stout” (2022):



Poured at 52°; purchased at the brewery about 2 weeks ago. Semi sweet; the coffee has vanished in the nose, the taste is vinegar caramel malt and cooked green bell peppers…

Gonna be a nice day in Casper. I'm just kicking it with this Belgian style Tripel from Barrel of Monks out of Boca Raton Florida.
It gets excellent reviews but it doesn't hit all the right spots to me. Oh well. It's still a goodish sipper.

Bosteels DeuS


Appearance: Clear gold, good carbonation, ok head with iffy retention.

Smell: Belgian yeast, mild phenol, clove, mild apple.

Taste: Balanced arrival, then shifts to a sweeter flavor. Sweet apple, then Belgian yeastiness. Carbonation apparent in the feel. Finishes dry with the apple note remaining.

Overall: I've seen DeuS on the shelves on and off for 20 years. I always said to myself “that's an expensive beer!” and still do (this bottle was $47). I've been on a kick to try to tick the remaining styles I haven't tried, so I finally bit the bullet and bought a bottle. Is it worth $47? Not really, basically tastes like Duvel or any other strong Belgian blonde ale. Also gives me strong hints of malt liquor, with the apple note being so strong. Here's to expensive malt liquor!
