    1) Phase Three Baguette Bonanza (7.8% canned 6/11/2025): A NEIPA from Chicago with Citra, Mosaic, Galaxy & Elani for flavors of mango cream, melon sorbet, blueberry
    versus
    2) Phase Three Riot Sip (7.8% canned 5/23/2025): A NEIPA from Chicago with BRU-1, Triumph, Krush for flavors of pineapple, peach, blueberries. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

Phase Three NEIPA Battle, bot fresh releases. First is Baguette Bonanza. Standard Citra, Mosaic, Galaxy, plus some Elani for some pineapple, lime, and sorbet flavor. Excellent.
Next is Riot Sip. A more interesting hop flavor with Triumph and Krush providing a tropical melon, blueberry, peach flavor. The BRU-1 provides a nice pineapple balance. This is also excellent and surprisingly these are quite similar. Slight edge to Riot Sip for the complexity and drinks slightly more clean and smooth. Phase Three at the top of their game.
    Winner: Phase Three Riot Sip

Today, with the Humidex lowering to 37 C (or 99 F), one still needs some superlative, and ice cold, beer. Each of my two new experiences, on a European Vacation of sorts, is shown, poured, with a 1949 photo postcard of American painter Jackson Pollock. First, my second from Hofbrauhaus in Munich, their 5.1% Hofbrau Original (which I'd give a 4/5)...

...then, my first from the Czech Republic's Budějovický Budvar, their 5% Czechvar Original Czech Lager (a solid 3.75/5, in my books; I hope to figure out how to give specific tasting thoughts over time; this is all very new to me; at the moment, I simply know what I like)...

Have a great rest of your day, and see you tomorrow. Cheers from McGregor, Ontario! =)

Today was golf day. I'm beginning to hit my new clubs quite well. Now if I only had a short game.
    7K IPA after the round.

    Revisited July 14th, 2025

A nice amber colored body with a bit of cloudiness; fantastic carbonation; thick head, white and sculpted, very long-lasting. Classic spicy saison smell; herbal; basil, cumin, marjoram. The taste starts with a grainy taste and then the spicy yeast, hops, and whatever else they toss into the brew kettle come into play; spicy, peppery taste; hints of anise. Medium body; soft yet also sporting a mild raspiness on the palate; sticky at first, finishes on the dry side.

A neighbor shared a bottle with me last night at a neighborhood pot luck supper and then gifted me a second bottle to take home. I am more familiar with saison and farmhouse ales than I was nearly 13 years ago. I loved this beer back then, and, other than a few minor tweaks to my ratings, find it still a fine beer treat.

Original July 21st, 2012 ratings, scores, and review:

    4.5 4.0 4.5 4.0 4.0; BA weighted overall score: 4.23; rDev: +1.4%

Light straw color, slightly hazy. Immense, vibrant white head. Creamy, chunky, and long lasting. Light aroma full of tartness, over-ripe fruit notes (apple in particular); cloves and a trace of cinnamon. Robust apple and sour taste with a nice bitterness emerging at the finish. Malt notes slowly emerge at the finish, too. Light, dry, tart mouthfeel; medium-light in character.

Not a style of beer I'm overly familiar with, but which I've had a few over the years, and this has been a consistent winner to me. Light and vibrant enough with a distinct taste profile that, if given an open mind for the style, is readily appealing. Nice complexity and balance. Easy to drink, even if you're new to the style.

...got my relatively new Dell laptop back from depot maintenance...looks like they replaced the motherboard (again! 2x in about as many weeks), plus the speakers (?) and reinstalled the OS (christ, I could have done that myself)...anyway, it seems to be running fine now...got all Dell / MS / Intel updates installed, have most of my preferred apps installed (e.g., Firefox and Thunderbird, LibreOffice, Paintshop Pro, NordVPN, Norton360)...SFC and DISM checks all seem fine...will do a full system backup in another day or two...anyway, an afternoon beer (maybe an auxiliary vice to follow ?!?) is tasting fine...relatively mild rainy weather has moved in this afternoon, so I foresee more beer (at the very least)...

A fantastic review @beergoot . This is one of my favorites, and the best kept gem of Kansas City beer. Complex, sweet, and nothing quite like it.
