We rolled into Madison this morning for a much needed chores day…we checked into our hotel, ate a 2nd breakfast, found an oversized self cleaning car wash and washed/waxed the RV; went to Firestone and had the tires serviced; now doing laundry while we drink in the pool - Furious IPA:

I’m simply calling out those who don’t. @TCgenny knows what I’m taking about.

 

1) Fair State Pilsner (5.1%): A German Pils from Minnesota with flavors of lemongrass, yeast, and dry flower. Bitter finish.
versus
2) Lupulin West Coast Pilsner (6.0%): A German Pils from Minnesota with flavors of lemon citrus, floral notes. A smooth, hoppy, and bitter finish. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

Minnesota German Pils Battle. First is Fair State. Lemon, floral, and bitter. Crisp and clean. The GOAT for a German Pils
Next is Lupulin West-Coast Pils. Bright, lemony, hoppy. Bitter, yet smooth. Lingering bitterness.
Fair State is the Gold-Standard, but have to admit I enjoyed this WC Pils from Lupulin. Extremely hoppy flavors, yet a nice bitterness so that it doesn't drink soapy like so many IPLs. Very enjoyable.
Winner: Fair State Pils

 

Another gorgeous effin’ day in Seattle. So … time for a lunch beer! Cherry Funky Foeder from Russian River … a darn fine beer.

I have to admit that I did things in the grey areas, as only recently I've started enjoying the BA community and forums. I was lazy--end of story. I knew the two beers I was (most probably) going to have that day, and I talked about them before I had them--simply because I have so much on my plate (which we all do, to be sure), getting married in October and such. One of the veterans set me straight, and privately, thank God, and so I do everything by the book now.

Speaking of such, I just had two marvelous beers, from two of my favourite Ontario craft breweries, each photographed with the Belgian author Georges Simonen: First, the extraordinary beer that the owner of Erie St. Gastropub, in nearby downtown Windsor, gifted me with for the debacle my Responsible Beer Drinking Club had last Thursday, when we went there and couldn't be served: The 6.5% Chevere from Scotland, Ontario's remarkable Meuse Brewing...



...and then, from the other side of the beer spectrum, a delightful 6.5% Sunsplit IPA from Ottawa's Dominion City Brewing Co.



Georges is Belgian, so I feel he's kind of biased towards the Belgian Coffee Stout. To each his own; they're both great beers! Have a great rest of your day! =)
