What beer are you drinking now? #4667

1) Surly Hell Lager (5.0%): A German lager from Minnesota that has flavors of lemonflower with a dry yeasty and pale malt finish.
versus
2) Utepils Hoppestokk (5.6%): A German Lager from Minnesota with flavors of pale malt, light flower, smooth orange citrus notes. (Correctly matched the two blind)

Minnesota Lager Battle. First is Surly Hell. Bright flower, crisp citrusy notes. Clean, yeasty, and smooth. Incredible German Lager from Surly.
Next is Utepils. First try at this. Larger ABV. Similar flavors, but slightly more citrus and sweetness. Similar overall.
Winner: Surly Hell

 

The rain can be so odd at times. Yesterday, we had the smallest thunderstorm go over the house. It poured rain for about 20-30 minutes while it was sunny all around the property. My neighbors on the far side of the subdivision must have been jealous!

Made some air fry flats/drummies for lunch with a Rolling Rock.

I only remember 1 time in Fl where it was this hot. Early 80’s in Ft Myers was 103 degrees.

 

Hoping some of the nearby rain blows thru to break the temp. SN Rad Little Thing IPA. Got in a 19 mile road ride earlier today then the BB30 bottom bracket starting making strange sounds. Got the go ahead from the bike shop to drop it in the morning, prolly gonna cost me some beer money.....

 

1) Phase Three Riot Sip (7.8% canned 5/23/2025): A NEIPA from Chicago with BRU-1, Triumph, Krush for flavors of pineapple, peach, blueberries.
versus
2) Phase Three Doggone Delish (7.8% canned 5/23/25): A NEIPA from Chicago with Nelson for flavors of vinous green and white grape, green melon, berries, floral notes. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

Phase Three IPA Battle. First is Riot Sip. An interesting and somewhat unique hop combo. Pineapple, peach and melon/blueberries. Very nice but could use a hop base like Citra to brighten and round it out.
Next is Doggone Delish. All Nelson. Bright berries, and flower. Light dank notes. Smooth and complex. Excellent showcase of Nelson and one of Phase Three's best.
Winner: Phase Three Doggone Delish

I totally agree! I've lived in Ft. Myers/Orlando/Ocala since 1972 and it's never been like this. One day last summer the heat index hit 112 for an hour then the skies blew open. It's been "feels like 105" by 11am at least 15 times this summer with the hottest, according to the weather channel, was "feels like 118" earlier this week.....cheers!!
