Commonwealth Dance Battle hazy DIPA

 

Time for a cooling break on a hot day.

 

1) Arbeiter Figurati (5.2%): An Italian Pilsner from Minnesota with flavors of bright lemon, flower, and dank pine.
versus
2) Insight Avant Dry Hopped Pils (5.0%): A dry-hopped German Pils from Minnesota with flavors of lemon citrus, floral notes, smooth pale malts. (Correctly matched the two blind)

Hoppy Pilsner Battle via Minnesota. First is Arbeiter. Making some great pilsners and this is their Italian Pils. Intensely floral, bitter, even somewhat soapy. Cleans the palate.
Next is Insight Avant, a dry-hopped Pils. Simliar lemon citrus, less soapy and more smooth pale malts. Very enjoyable.
Arbeiter makes some great ones, but not a huge fan of the "Italian Pils" style as this one tastes sort of soapy. Insight Avant is excellent and I come back to that every year.
Winner: Insight Avant

 

Another cool day in the Southern Appalachians. Enjoying a nice mostly old school WCIPA with a touch of Nelson Sauvin, very enjoyable!
Last night went with a friend, who is a big fan, to see Bill Kirchen who was part of Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen back in the 60's/70's (Bill is on the left in the second pic). He played Bob Dylan songs as Bill was there at the Newport Jazz festival back in 1964/1965. Maybe one of the BA audiophiles remember this tune.

Before I get to the beer I'm drinking now, I have an observation and two questions.

Obs: In the time I have spent on WBAYDN, I can't recall ever seeing someone post that they are drinking a homebrew.

Q1: Is that an accurate observation, or have I just not been paying enough attention?
Q2: If it is accurate that homebrews are not posted here, is that because it is frowned upon? (I know some of you are keen on protecting the integrity of WBAYDN) Smacks too much of self-congratulation? Unrelatable because nobody else can try the same beer?

Inquiring minds want to know!

On to the beer:
This is a collaboration between two German breweries. Very tasty!

 

Due to today’s (it’s Florida )heat, now enjoying a Von Trapp Kölsch also @SABERG . Really nice crackery, crisp and slightly soapy taste. Well done.
