What Beer Are You Drinking Now? #4682

1) Phase Three Doggone Delish (7.8% canned 5/23/25): A NEIPA from Chicago with Nelson for flavors of vinous green and white grape, green melon, berries, floral notes.
versus
2) Toppling Goliath DDH King Sue (7.8% canned 6/16/25): A NEIPA from Iowa with flavors of orange citrus zest, flower, pineapple and mango skin. Bright and clean. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

An EPIC IPA Battle today, maybe the best of the summer. Toppling Goliath vs. Phase Three, Nelson vs, Citra, and possibly my two favorite IPAs from each of them. First is Doggone Delish. All Nelson, smooth blueberries and berry flower. Probably the best showcase of the Nelson hop I've had. Amazing.
Next is Toppling Goliath The King in DDH form. All Citra. Bright citrus flower, tons of hops, a pine bite off the end. This was drinking hot for the past 6 weeks since it's release and I was slightly disappointed, but woah. Nevermind, now it is is dialing into it's flavors. It just took a bit of time. One of the best showcases of Citra. Again, absolutely amazing. Really a hard call here.
Have to admit that I am liking the Nelson in Phase Three here. I guess Kings are temporary-- Doggone Delish over The King.

It’s hot and humid this afternoon so I stopped at Twin Elephant on the way home to wet my beak. Drinking Wayne Firehouse, a TIPA hopped with Galaxy, Citea Cryo, and Kush. I really like the peach and pineapple notes. Cheers!

Dark side (beer) time? I think so.

 

Quite nice. Smooth, a wee bit heavy bodied, might lean sweet for some. Great flavor, not intense.

 

A mid afternoon snack of chicken wings in Popeyes buffalo sauce (really good sauce). Will make a new dish tonight of sesame honey cashew chicken over rice for dinner later .

 

Since it's my B'day (just another day) I was able to hit Tilted Barn and get some DDH Cactus. This beer is top tier, no doubt.

 

Man, I miss that place. I went there for the first time last October while on my honeymoon. Don't tell my wife, but that was one of the more memorable parts of the trip. Cheers!

Ha! Actually got ready to do some lawn choppin and then it rained for 25 min. At least the firewood is all in a long cord now.
