Starting the day off with Pipeworks Imperial End of Days - good balance of chocolate and chilies.

No work tomorrow so I might as well enjoy an Iris.

Ohhh...I'm gonna get so much sh!t for saying this: I was really disappointed in this year's Hopslam :grimacing:. It's too damn sweet! The first time I had it 3 years ago, I was absolute blown away. The 2nd time, 2 years ago, I still loved it as much. Maybe it's because I've has so many awesome DIPA the last several months, but I just didn't like it this time around. I don't recall it to be as sweet, but I'm sure that has a lot to do with my changing palate as well as exposure to all the other awesome IPAs.

A few months ago, Tired Hands brewed a triple IPA, BlondeZombie, with a ton of honey. I did not like it either and someone said "well, Hopslam was made with honey too". Well, friend, I stand by my preference.

    Cheers!

Don't understand why you should be flamed for your own preference. I will just say that I love it this time around for the exact reason you dislike it. I have grown tired of overly bitter, piney hopped IPAs and was glad to see some sweetness come through in this years Hopslam. Thought it was delicious! Sorry you can't enjoy it this year, but at least it sounds like you have some access to some other GREAT offerings.
    Cheers!

I just wanted to preempt it so that no one will jump on me for it :grinning:

Maybe I will like it again a few years from now for the reasons you mentioned.

    Cheers!

I felt the same way about sucks, that while it was outstanding I just didn't get the hype. of course after I took @Roguer 's advice and had two more I really started to appreciate the unexpected delicacy of it.

I was "unflamed" and so shall you be. :sunglasses:

I'm definitely getting a pour of Hopslam on tap (it's all over Philly right now) and open another bottle for sure. I loved Sucks the 3 times I have had it. It was well above my expectations, but I didn't feel it was all hyped up at that time so it blew me away the first time I tried it.

A good beer, though not quite what I expect from an Altbier.

Actually just got back from picking one of these up. Work 2nd shift so can't enjoy it until maybe tonight if that's my drink of choice when I get home. Hope it's as good as I can imagine.
    Enjoy!

I'd say it's on-par with the site's average. Definitely get what you paid for. I liked their regular Mint Stout just a little bit more, but I had that one on-tap.

Just read your well written review on it and it does sound good. I wont expect to be blown away, but sounds very enjoyable. Just picked up a 4pk of their Morningwood stout and BBA Mayan Mocha Stout. So needless to say, I want 2nd shift to fly today!

    Thanks for the info!
