    Oh, you hit on a very underrated one in Akademia. They make nice IPAs and stouts. Even have a good lager game. Their distro has gotten unfortunately skinny the last few years. I have a hard time finding their stuff.

    @LesDewitt4beer Yes, I could imagine a scenario of Mad Max but atop the bluffs. I do think the bluffs add a bit of foreground to the lights.

    299 weeks in a port wine barrel.

    Three-plus years in my fridge.

    Had to let the pour breathe about 30 minutes, but this is stellar, better than when first released IMO.

    Totally agree, we spent a night in Athens Dec 2023 and hit Creature Comforts and Akademia, really enjoyed both.

    Clear, dark copper pour; dense, small-bubble carbonation, lively; thick head, dense and sculpted, long-lasting; nice fat patches of clinging foam inside the glass. Bold nose of biscuit and toasted caramel; mild and subdued sense of earthy spiciness. Heavy sweetness offset by a bold booziness; cinnamon and caramel. Dense, rich, chewy body; thick and sticky; plenty of alcohol warmth.

    I have had this beer before but apparently never got around to reviewing it on BeerAdvocate. I remember thinking this beer as being a hot mess back then. Well, this is, in effect, a super-charged malt liquor. So, keeping that idea in mind, I think this is a fine big beer. It is not something I'd drinking very often, but it has enough character to warrant a return visit every now and then.
