Good morning BAdvocates. I’m drinking my first Payette Brewing Sofa King Sunny hazy pale ale. Very solid brew, probably the second best out of my variety pack.

I'll preface this by saying I think most all Sam Adams beers suck.

Only a few I've never seen again like the Cream Stout and Double Bock do I still have a fond memory of.

I still remember the first time I found Old Fezziwig, back in the 90s, on tap at the Poor People's Pub in Sanbornville, NH. I overstayed our lunch stop by several pours.

Easy to resist buying when it's been held ransom inside holiday mix packs for the past many years (I'm not buying 9 beers I don't want just to get it)... well, I couldn't see this being sold separately and not revisit.

The Samuel Adams Old Fezziwig (2025): a sad shell of its former self thread sealed my decision to try it after many years.

Back at it ba. Augustin 13, amber lager, schilling. Rather heavy malt forward and not very clean drinking. Decent but it’s different,

Good afternoon BA
When I picked up this single, I thought a July date would still be a decent idle of what this beer is about. July of 2024 proved me wrong...

I have to get better about checking dates. This one is going down the sink. Pretty oxidized.

 

The wife was having lunch with a friend and I was out doing errands, so I thought I could stop by the local brewery for a quick beer - ********* Bentley. Anyone know who that was? Local Vermont hero.

 

That delivery guy didn't skimp!

They never have that much on their menu which always disappoints me.



He has really focused on distributing beer at the expense of brewing differences. That may be the path to surviving. Through the end of 2023, they were the 23rd biggest craft brewery and the biggest Vermont owned - interesting when consider all the other. Edmonton brewers - Alchemist, Lawson’s, HF….
