Hello, BA OT complete, time to enjoy the weekend with my Dad from Rhinegeist and his friends that shall follow. Cheers!

 

1) Hofbrau Dunkel (5.5%): A German Dunkel with flavors of brown bread, dark malts, cocoa, and earthy tobacco notes.
versus
2) Half Acre Ridge Tree (4.5%): A Czech Dark Lager from Chicago with flavors of dark malt, cocoa, light roast. Clean. (Correctly matched the two blind)

German Dunkel versus Czech Dark Lager. First is Hofbrau. Brown breads, some grains, earthy cocoa and tobacco notes. Excellent.
Next is Half Acre Ridge Tree. A bit more cocoa and soft bread notes. I think I like the flavor of the German Dunkel, but the softness of the Czech Dark. If Hofbrau had a bit stronger flavor I'd give it the win.
Winner: Half Acre Ridge Tree

Today, it's cool and windy, but otherwise beautiful, out here in McGregor--and both cats Gracie and Sundae were happy to help me investigate the day's new brews: First, with Gracie, it's my sixth beer from Sundbyberg, Sweden's Omnipollo--their 6.1% Fantom IPA...

Finally for today, also with Sundae, it's my twenty-sixth brew from nearby Windsor's Chapter Two Brewing Company--their 5% Lancaster Bomber Amber Ale (this was 4/5, or 80%, for my palate)...

Tomorrow: Three more new beer experiences, from the following breweries:
--Bellwoods Brewery (Toronto, Ontario; my twenty-fourth of their wares);
--Big Rig Brewery (Kanata, Ontario; my seventh); and
--Burdock Brewery (Toronto, Ontario; my thirteenth)...

...and this week's Banned Book, James and the Giant Peach: A Children's Story (Roald Dahl, 1961)...
