Thanks for starting us off on another adventure, @dcotom!

The Dripping Tap IPA from Cellarmaker Brewing

Clear golden brew with plenty of foam in the Chimay chalice. Lovely aroma of orange, papaya, and melon, nothing too strong. This is a nice example of restraint in an IPA. You can actually taste the fruity flavors and the bitterness is quite reasonable. There is an acidic edge, but it's all quite friendly and highly drinkable. No date. Cellarmaker is going up in my esteem lately.

Today we find ourselves in the lovely mountain town of Tono, Iwate, Japan. Tono is a major hop growing region of Japan. Kirin released this lager which uses only Tono hops harvested in 2025. There is certainly a more pronounced, grassy hop presence. Well done, Kirin.

Have a good Sunday BA. I've been up all night drinking Scotch and soda with my Wife. I finally finished the Truman Book by David McCullough, longest book of all time(but not really). Recommended. It took me 4 days of listening non stop. 4.25/5. I am going to start The Devil Reached Towards the Sky by Garrett M Graff next, because Atomic bomb books are always enjoyable and I drink up history books. His 9/11 oral history book was also amazing. I've been uploading all my beer reviews from untappd this morning after catching up on my checkins. Still got like 700 more to write in backup.

Got some more Great Lakes Christmas ale from the corner last night after we went to taco bell. I am still ripping it up lmao.

Was going to laundry, but I found out there's only one machine working. Oh, well, time for another beer. Maybe I can try again later.

Fresh and dank red DIPA. Canned 11/25/25. I love simcoe and cascade hops. The new label is really cool looking.

Good morning BAs! Morning chores following breakfast done…coffee break with a new beer - Revolution’s “Cocoa Vanilla Deth”:

Canned 9/16/25. Poured at 56.3° (from fridge to countertop for 45 minutes to warm up). Vanilla, bourbon and dark chocolate. Delicious and getting better as it warms. Working on notes for NBW.

Cool and cloudy/gloomy forecast all day. I’m thinking a stay home and watch football kinda day, but that could change. Cheers from the Kanawha Valley, and have a superb Sunday y’all!

Good day BAs! Today's New Breakfast Beer:

Octoberfest from Toppling Goliath Brewing. Six-pack of 12 fl oz cans from Franklin Beer, Franklin, PA. Stored on room temperature shelf at distributor. Purchased 26/12/25. $ 12.25 (including tax) ($ 0.170/fl oz). Reviewed 28/12/25, review 3664.
Final impression and summation: 3.75 Uncredited label art. Seems a bit light on both malt and hops – more of a Festbier than a Märzen to my senses.
    Rating 3.69, rDev -3.9%

Japanese beer drinkers have an interesting palate. In addition to liking Weisse and Wit beers it is also common to find Altbier offering such as this one from Tono, Iwate, Japan. It needs more carbonation but the yeast and malt flavors are definitely there.
