Coffee break while measuring hops. Brewing a red ale using homegrown cascade and centennial hops, along with local honey. A pretty good way to start the week!

Really interesting flavor on this one, mouthfeel is divine but I'm not sure I like the dry-hopping. Brett vs Citra, who wins?

Had an amazing chiropractic appointment, followed by a top notch work out, and an awesome lunch of green curry. Gotta love February vacation.

Photo sucks, but whatever. Polishing off two DirtWolfs before heading into Boston tonight with my brother for some dinner and drinks. The simple pleasures of not having to be in bed at 10 every night.

6-packs or the larger bottle format? I want to try this.

Guess I didn't get enough barleywines at the Toronado BW festival yesterday. 2011 vintage.

had the nastiest 24-hour stomach bug yesterday, at first I thought maybe I overdid it Saturday night but I really only drank 4 beers (5 if you count the bomber as 2). Nothing over 9% ABV either. Woke up yesterday just feeling "off" at around 6:30 AM, tried to sleep it off, and then BAM. Horrible nausea/vomiting and a wicked fever that hung around almost all day. Today, I feel fine if not a bit tired. Thing is, I have to fly to Texas for business tomorrow, but my dilemma is that I have a growler in my fridge that NEEDS to be drunk.

    So BA, do I?

How'd that hold up? Buddy of mine opened 2012 this weekend and said most of the barrel characteristics were gone.

You just described my Saturday a week ago. Came down with the flu, but at first I thought it was a hangover...when I didn't even get drunk! Knocked me on my ass.

Tough dilemma; I'd probably pass, but I'm not in your shoes. Depends on how good the beer is, I guess.

    Feel better!

Today's "day off" has turned into quite a work day. Shoveling part of the driveway and walkway really kicked my ass; I'm still not over the flu, and I felt wretched afterwards. Then, dishes and laundry, followed by work on my master's. I need to relax, have some lunch, and a beer.

    Massive head on this one!

I love Ommegang, but this beer was a huge disappointment for me. It has a great, complex, full aroma, but the flavor was just lacking. It tasted about 10% as sweet as it smelled, and the spices they used really come to the forefront on the tongue, and it isn't great. It's not a bad beer; it's just disappointing.

I'll have to revisit it again some day just to make sure I'm giving it a fair shake.

Listened to Gojira to power me through snow removal operations.

    Cheers!

Edit: wow, two beer posts on page 1! Normally you have to live in Sweden or something to pull that off.

I had that for the first time on Valentine's Day and really liked it, maybe you just got a bad bottle or my taste for dubbles sucks. Yeah, it's a super slow day on WBAYDN.
