Good day BAs! Thanks @Shanex for opening the bar! It's foggy here as the warm front pushing north overlays our fields of snow - but may get up to the high 40s/low 50s today before we slide back into winter - the January thaw's a little late this year!

Today's New Breakfast Beer ( the best I've had in a LONG while):



Dethurana (2026) from Revolution Brewing. 12 fl oz can from Revolution Deep Wood six-pack from Half Time. Ordered 20/01/26, received 13/02/26 (Not shipping until after 04/02/26). $ 17.66 (Including tax and shipping)/ $ 1.471/fl oz. Stored at 40 degrees F at home. Reviewed 16/02/26, review 3691.
Final impression and summation: 4.5 Uncredited but excellent label art. Excellent Imperial Stout – the bourbon flavor and aroma are better here than in most actual bourbons I have consumed – ethanol is well-hidden. Excellent variant of Deth – I’ll take a case, please!

When I was adding my review to BA, I read the description. I didn't notice any coconut, maple, or cinnamon (my favorite spice) at all - the balanced flavors imparted from the amburana wood indicate, to me at least, that bourbon could be made drinkable by aging in these, rather than oak, barrels. But then it technically wouldn't be bourbon, would it?

Good morning BAdvocates. I'm downing the final Tahoe/Alibi Ale Works Cold IPA from my six pack. Glad to be finished with these exploding missiles. Some snow is expected tonight and tomorrow but right now it's 43 degrees outside with no wind. I'll take it!

Half day of work, so I figured I'd join the party that is sipping on sunshine.


I really do enjoy this beer quite a bit. At one month old, it is still very good, I think and would argue to you if you happen to be a fan of IPAs of yore. I'd also pontificate out of my ass that it has just enough malt to have a toe in the east coast waters while bringing a hop dosage more reminiscent of the west coast. The hops are more fruity (citrus) than many of the west coast pine bombs back then (though it isn't lacking that note) - perhaps making where it is made the perfect location for its production.

Maybe you disagree? That's fine, I'd likely still drink one of these with you. Cheers!
