Actually, not many fresh hop beers out there unless you are in beer heaven. Limited availability. Limited harvest seasons both hemispheres. The local that did one here had theirs flown in. Usually used to denote wet hops used as opposed to mostly dried ones used in a majority of beer.

Elevated keeps on disappearing in my fridge . A little twilight blue left in the sky.

Roasted I can't stand, smell-wise. Cauliflower even more so

Steak looks great. I remember my dad going on about how he hates the green trees my sister-in-law was ordering for him to go with meals we bought for him to eat at home

First time having this one. Three Floyds does it again. I hope to track down some Artic Panzer Wolf someday. I’d settle for Permanent Funeral. I’ll be in Chicago in mid September. Probably will be stocking up on things outside off my distribution.

I love the label. I remember spending a couple of hours at Grand Fir. Actually let me rephrase. I don't remember anything from those two hours. I was drunk AF after touring half of PDX's breweries. It was so much fun.

When cooked right, they're okay but easy to screw up

I posed the question to CoPilot .. how can you eliminate the smell from roasted broccoli?

    Roast it hotter and faster

The longer broccoli cooks, the more sulfur it releases.

    Try:

    • 450°F instead of 400°F
    • Spread it out so pieces don’t steam
    • Roast 12–15 minutes instead of 20+

This alone cuts the smell dramatically.

Fresh hop season up here is wild. Hundreds of fresh hop beers — almost everyone does at least one, some breweries do like half a dozen different FH beers. 75% of hops in America come from nearby Yakima (and most of the rest from also-somewhat-nearby Oregon and Idaho). You just drive on down, load up your truck with bales of hops right off the bine, and within 2 hours they’re in the beer. Basically as fresh as you can get!

There are definitely advantages to living in Washington State :grinning:

Probably all true, but Mrs. Powell cooks those and probably would stick my head in the oven if I coached her on that task

Yeah, I was down there for Zwickelmania on Saturday and hit 5 breweries, but not Grand Fir. I didn’t have a sixth in me at that point

But I did stop at Portland’s premier bottle shop Belmont Station and load up on Oregon stuff that’s not distributed up here. MMMmmmmmmm.

I am sure when I do visit there, I will try to time this to experience that. Seen hop fields in England and Germany. Was very cool to see the Oasts in Kent. Was lucky enough to get 2 harvests of hops when I lived in Colorado before I foolishly moved

[IMG] I was so excited to see I had 2 of these still. The barrel is very gentle on this one and I actually love that. Sleep well all.

Belmont Station is amazing. I spent so much time (and money) at that shop. Sounds like you had a great time in PDX. One of my favorite cities out there.

I get that every year. This year the taste is a wee bit less caramel flavored. That tick of sweet really helps if you’re not a big Rauchbier guy. I like them generally so I like this years too. Cheers.
