Malt forward with bitter pine. Solid for the style.

Right then. My ceiling contractor contacted ystrdy and is here now doing the install. It's too cold outside for me to do anything so it truly is time for a beer. I hope to go pick up some more tmrw at a couple of places. I've got some cool new/old stuff picked out but for now....keeping it local with a Drastic Measures Stupid Good HIPA 6.3%
    Cheers!

...another warm and windy day...back in the 'Fortress of Solitude' doing some metal forming and fabrication, so may as well imbibe a bit while listening to some old CDs...

Heavy Metal Parking Lot, a black IPA with squid ink by Stoke Haus. I got barbecue with a friend to catch up since he was out of town for a while. Incredible beer, roasty, dank, piney, with a lot of coffee. It reminded me of a great espresso tonic with a smoothly bitter, sweet finish. Definitely a fresh take on black IPA, which feels like it has few standouts and is just a novelty style.

Happy Wednesday BAs! Today marks my 20th anniversary as a member of BA. I considered opening a big bottle of something special, but I have shit to do this evening, so maybe later. For now, this glass of Cowbell's Absent Landlord Kölsch will have to do. Cheers!

Those apparently went down fast, lol. Cheers!!

A buddy of mine who loves Heady topper, traveled to Vermont with us to the Stowe area for a marathon(in New Hampshire) in 2014, he drank three of those down lightning fast on an empty stomach at the hotel bar, and I glanced over at him and he was literally, physically _green_.

    1) Back Channel Zero (5.25%): A Czech Dark Lager from Minnesota with flavors of dark malt, cocoa, light roast. Smooth.
    versus
    2) Arbeiter Nacht Rider (4.9%): A Schwarzbier from Minnesota with flavors of dark chocolate, grains, smooth cocoa. Clean. (Correctly matched the two blind)

Minnesota dark lager battle. First is Back Channel Zero. A Czech dark lager. Dark grains, cocoa, light roast. Bready and smooth. Excellent Czech dark.
Next is Nacht Rider. Similar, but more dark grains, dark fruit, roast in German Schwarzbier fashion. More flavor overall here, but not as soft. Both excellent representations of the styles and among the best I've had this season. Comes down to preference of style, but slight win to Arbeiter Nacht Rider.
    Winner: Arbeiter Nacht Rider

I do a pretty decent job of it myself and i can tell how well by how fast the cat's tail is swishing back and forth :joy:
Getting into a Ralphius imperial stout aged in Fiddler Bourbon Barrel/J. Reiger Bourbon Barrel acquired while up in @jzeilinger Pennsyltucky country last September. This brings a nice chocolate vibe from the malt base, and the barrels primarily bring a woody accent that balances this big brew nicely. Always a pleasure to have some Ralphy - rated 4.2.
    Cheers!
