Hi there my wonderful French bro, @Shanex … Me and this guy actually met up in France one time, can you believe that? Beer Advocate is a pretty neat thing. Along with meeting cool people along the way (even @Resistance88), what I’ve really gained from BA is that it has taught me to appreciate the beer that is in my glass (rather than just pounding swill down one after another just to party or whatever). It’s been a fun time challenging my palate what have you. Early in my journey in 2012, I traded for HopSlam and I absolutely hated it. Ten years later though, I finally understood it for what it was and now if I had one in front of me I’d definitely enjoy it (but no way would I trade for it again). Cheers to you and your own journey that has brought you here.

Ok, I’ll keep on going. I’ve said it before, but even though I signed up here in 2006, I really didn’t get into things until 2012. And the main thing that peaked my interest in 2012 was that this was when WBAYDRN? first started (it may have been under 100 days old when I first got enamored with it). I saw all these different beers from around the country and I just needed to try them. IMHO, this time really was the golden years of craft beer. Well, not one brewery had sold out yet. So when I traded for Arctic Panzer Wolf, Jai Alai, BCBS, Breakfast Stout, Bells, Hop Drop N’ Roll, etc, they were the real deal. Nowadays the brewery that produced these beers have either been bought out, or they started mass producing them and are in California distro now and imho that aren’t as good anymore. During this time a lot of local breweries were also at their peak too. Black Tuesday was still heavily sought after, Noble Ale Works was smashing the scene with world class IPA’s and their blonde coffee stout, Naughty Sauce, and even a brewery that is probably in its nadir right, had a world class offering in their Imperial IPA Knuckle Sandwich. And don’t get me started on the greatness that was Alpine… This was a time when bottle shops would post beer that had just arrived (Pliny coming every two weeks and limit one was definitely a thing), and then Goose Island Black Friday was great in itself (this was right before they ruined everything by getting rid of 12 ounce bottles and then started charging way too much for adjunct laden junk in 16 ounce bottles.

Well, Raul is just reminiscing here. Nothing to cry over. Just thinking of the glory days before $28 4 packs of Hazy’s…

    Cheers!

    Yesterday:
    • @Mickeyharris - Led Zeppelin are my favorite rock band as well.
    • @beergoot - Have the same issue with Bell’s (Variety shrunk to primarily Two Hearted spin offs. See also SN Hazy Little Thing. See also Founders All Day (and their broken beer finder when they do bring something back like Mosaic Promise).
    • @elNopalero - My issue is with removing the bottled date, which IIRC Bell’s Expedition Stout listed before being sold to Kirin Holdings.
    Now:
Seems to be raining across the globe, as it won’t let up here until mid afternoon. Wanted to hit the store this morning. Hitting another deep woods and will begin my spreadsheet for my major MLB Rotisserie deep draft next week (32 teams X 25 man rosters including IR).

Good day BAs! Thanks @Shanex for opening the bar! @RaulMondesi - a four-pack of Celebrator'll make me philosophical too!

    Today's non-philosophical New Breakfast Beer:

Gentle Excess from Lavery Brewing. 16 fl oz can, purchased 26/02/26 from Franklin Beer, Franklin, PA. $ 4.25/$ 0.266/fl oz. In reefer at distributor, stored at 40 degrees F at home. Reviewed 11/03/26, review 3703.
Final impression and summation: 3.5 (After deducting 0.25 point for an undated personal container) Uncredited label art. Unusually weak non-sweet maple drink – the marshmallow adds a nice, slightly sweet, counterpoint. Unfortunately, my favorite spice (cinnamon) is marked by its absence. Kudos for noting in the description that this brew is lactose free!

    G'day all!

I'm sipping on this Hazy IPA from Avery. Not bad and Avery still has 6packs here for under US$10.00

    Prost!

I'm back again. Sipping on this German style Pilsner from Prost. Delicious and canned January 7th.
An encouraging thing I noticed at the store that I bought it from. Last week, there were, I reckon, 4 of their beers on the shelf, all canned early to mid 2005. Today, this was the only Prost on the shelf. Somebody was doing their job???

    Prost!

This beer smells totally amazing. The taste is a shell of the aroma. I will bring one home to review here.
