Happy Easter BA, (zombie jesus day!) I finished the Five Families by Selwyn Raab last night and posted up my review on goodreads. 6/5 world class book. I started The Shock Doctrine by Naomi Klein briefly before I passed out last night, but I am really looking forward to this. I loved her book Doppelganger, which is a really engaging memoir about being a political activist in Canada, but she has an opponent that looks like her, and thusly a lot of confusion about "who said what" was some crazy media speculation as a result. Another Red vs Blue overview, if you catch my drift. (I gave it 4.5/5) The Shock Doctrine is published in 2007, but will resonate today even harder. Private businesses made trillions in the market dip in 2021, the pandemic economy overview will have fit into the book quite seamlessly. Private Equity will continue ruining the beer industry, that housing bubble needs to burst... I am always on board for a new economics book!

Julia made a big ass half pork loin in the instant pot last night, but I was too tired to eat, so I get to have it today for easter dinner! We are going to Outback tomorrow for our 2nd anniversary with a bunch of gift cards from holidays. Here are some more kitten pics for your enjoyment:


State of Brewing Shuteye Peak Pale Ale from Aldi. APA for under $14 a 12 pack. Run of the mill Chinook and Fuggles tasting pale, it's as resinous as an IPA, but very enjoyable.

More from the Torpedo mix-pack, the SN website says this is 45 IBU’s but it drinks significantly more bitter than that, which I really enjoy. Excellent stuff, IMHO.

Congrats on your anniversary. You’re absolutely right, the years stack up and it’s like, “what just happened?” We’re at 36 years, and my only explanation is my better half is discretely deaf and blind.

Happy Easter to those that partake.
Just finished my 9 hour shift that started 8am at the restaurant.
Busy as heck but as usual failure is never an option. Took some food home because as anyone that works in this industry knows there are no breaks or time to eat you power right through.

Just picked up this week. One of the beers I've looked forward to for the last 13 years. Feel really bad as I ended up ditching a glass of Commodore Perry IPA, but needed to get that good hoppy taste back. Bummer is I got two more bottles in the fridge; even though kept cold it's been too many months.
Learned my lesson. These Monsters will not hang around to prey on us good villagers.

 

After that Chewbocka, I went with a Genny Bock. Now, I've moved unto my last bottle of Fremont Brew 1000 Barleywine. It was added to the site in September 2014, so it's 11-1/2 years on now. Still pretty good. The price tag was for $20, so it wasn't even a cheap bottle then.
