Cardeña - Quadrupel

I'm a bit embarrassed to confess that I didn't realize there was a new trappist kid on the block. From a monastery in the Burgos area of Spain, here's their Quad. Unfortunately this seems to be an oxidized bottle. Zero head and carbonation. Tastes alright but clearly not optimal. I need to give it another chance.

Kasta - Immortal IPA

Another microbrewery from the island of Crete. This is quite nice.

I could not finish the Trappist beer. No way I pump all that ABV in me when there's no enjoyment. Wait, this sounds sus. Anyway, you get the idea.

Well, today's New Breakfast Beer is from something closer to home:



The Raven (2025) from New Trail Brewing. 16 fl oz can, purchased 02/04/26 from Franklin Beer, Franklin, PA. $ 3.00/$ 0.187/fl oz. In reefer at distributor, stored at 40 degrees F at home. Reviewed 11/04/26, review 3723.
Final impression and summation: 3.75 Uncredited label art. Decent. Not as good as Köstritzer Schwarzbier, but then few are. Easy drinking and reasonably priced.

Catching up from yesterday...

Downtown bar hopping before my Coltrane at 100 Concert.

First stop is La Fisheria, one of my favorite Mexican spots, that focuses on seafood. Sope de Pulpo (aka Octopus). Saint Arnold Art Car IPA in the glass.



Main dish...

Shrimp and lobster tacos. Ignore the Margarita if you want

 

Next...Yellow Rose and some Japanese Whiskey at Houston Watch Company. A great cocktail bar that I never get to visit as much as I want.

 

Another Yellow Rose at La Carafe...which is the oldest bar and building in Houston.



Then a walk on up to the Wortham Theater, which is one of my favorite spots to see a live show (these are all among my "favorite spots" ha). To see Joe Lovano, Linda May Han No and the rest of the band for Coltrane at 100 Celebration. Fantastic show...no pics or videos inside the theater though





And that was my day drinking/bar hopping around downtown before going to see a great show...I might take it easy today, will see
