    Oh what a lady, what a beer!

    What is Frenchie talking about again?

    Fat heads brewery Head Hunter IPA.

    Gosh I can’t sip on this I can’t help myself and near quaffing it.

    Silly, but this is super tasty and drinkable. I have some left thanks again to the World Class trader @Blogjackets

    Hello!

    While @Shanex gets on the train to Hopville, I've boarded the bus to Boozetown, and boy, did I pick the express service!

    This is a monster beer, with all the normally wrong notes of booze, old leather, rich port wine, and deep umami notes of soy and beef stock, with hints of musty, insect-filled soil and a touch of cardboard. And that's just the nose! Ultimately, however, this becomes too cloyingly sweet. The booze that did the heavy lifting against the sweetness begins to lose the battle as the beer warms, and with no carbonation to lend a hand, the sweetness wins out.

    Hopefully your Friday night is as booze filled as mine, preferably without the insect-filled soil notes!

    Isn't that a great beer?! Anyone who likes American IPAs should have FH Head Hunter. When I first tried it I was on a long road trip, solo, mid-summer of 2016. My final destination was Grafton, VT. I left Cinci, OH and got to Utica, NY and midway stopped to fill up my gas tank at a little gas station in NE Ohio. (BTW the A/C wasn't working in the truck) I needed to use the can so I went inside to pay and noticed they had a small wall of craft beer and that's when I saw Head Hunter. It was in 4pks bottles. I grabbed 2. When I got to my hotel in Utica, camel thirsty, I popped a beer and was absolutely blown away. Now I see it randomly here in MN. Will be in OH this summer and will haul back loads of it. Awesome old school American IPA. Great beer creates great memories!:beers::beers:

    Good day BAs! Thanks @Shanex for opening the bar! Yeah, HH was great when I first had it back in 2014 (I rated it at 4.6) - like @LesDewitt4beer, it was a four-pack of 12 oz bottles (2013 vintage which my local distributor had just received in 2014) - blew me away! Over the next several years Mrs Lizard and I made multiple trips to the metro Cleveland area for lunch and (for me) BEER. The food was mediocre, the other FH beers weren't particularly good, and I noticed a drop in the tastiness of HH. Now, when traveling past Cleveland, we either don't stop at all, or stop at the Brew Kettle - the food is consistently good and the beer isn't too shabby.

    Speaking of not too shabby, here's today's Old Breakfast Beer:

    Endolith, another beer from Dave and a Barleywine. Hitting a strong 13,3% ABV. From Ohio and Jackie O’s as well.

    I normally "pass" on many Barleywine but cut the crap Shanex. The aging in Bourbon barrels kicks my butt and this is another treat from Blogjackets.

    All of it (this haul and the shirt for Nathan the other day) was sort of a reward / present for me becoming a dad. Can’t thank him enough.

    Happy May / Labour Day, and cheers from rainy NE Ohio....I remember my first trip to France over 20 years ago....which happened to fall around this time....and coming out of my little hotel on the Rue Cler, a cool open market district street in Paris, 7th Arrondissment if I recall correctly - everywhere on May 1st, people were handing out little bouquets of lily of the valley flowers - it was quite incredible! Highlight of that trip were the crepes, and taking the train to Vernon, to see Monet's Giverny....awesome!

    Had our property irrigation system turned on last night. So it's yard work day for me and you know what that means...BEER! A crisp 46°F in the garden with this local brew (85 miles South) that is awesome and pretty much tastes like tropical juices. Little Thistle The Hands Of Science HIPA :beers::beers:
