Hit up the Surly taproom with my parents yesterday, I had a BLAKKR, cask Bitter Brewer, and a Pentagram. Also had some Cacao Bender and Overrated. All in all, a wonderful afternoon that led to perhaps an even better nap...

    End of brew from yesterday:

Then had my first *and last, Lake Erie Monster this year. My tastes have changed quite a bit in the past year, not nearly as good as I remembered it, but still a solid outing from Great Lakes.

Then used my Plate chiller for the first time! Had to throttle back the pump outlet nearly 80% to cool it to 78°F from an input of 205°F. I can't believe I brewed 3 beers while I had this thing sitting on the sideline because I was too lazy to get the right hose-in fitting, lol. I then ran some star-san solution of about 5 gallons through it with the pump and it cleared out after a gallon, after I get done with today's brew I'll probably tear it down and bake it in the oven for a little while to clear any extra water out of it. (Note I still don't have the right fitting, but it's close enough... the threads must be NPT and I accidentally bought FPT, hence the reason i duct taped around where it was leaking to prevent excess spraying of hose water everwhere).

Also note the 4 oz of hop sediment left over, I only had to do minimal scraping to clear the screen and let the wort through. Can't decide if I should start the day with Blackout Stout or Breakfast Stout...

Well it's before noon, so Breakfast stout it is  I've always wanted to do this on a Sunday Morning, so i can check that off the bucket list lol. I'll save Blackout for tonight... seems fitting?

Also hit my mash temp a degree above target, but I'm happy I didn't have to mess around and add water here and there to bring it up or down.

Though today's brew started off rough.... everything was going well, checked to make sure valves were shut on the keggle before heating the mash water, but failed to check the Mash Tun... so I had to dump that round of water and heat up some more.. Then, when I turned the pump on to transfer the water into the Tun I didn't check to make sure the tube was in the Mash tun.... doh! I only lost a little water, so not as big of a deal as before... I just rolled with it.

Cheers BA, and cheers to all the Veterans out there!

I knew Odell and New Belgium collaborated on an APA but didn't know it was heading to bottles. I read your review so get the jist of the beer....but tell me, which brewery has the greatest influence here on the product? Does it taste more like a New Belgium beer or and Odell beer? Or is the influence shared evenly?

Ultimately it is a NB beer so I would think NB unfortunately. Although that collab with Alpine was legit so who knows.
