Starting the weekend out with something from north of the border.

 

Friday, the 13th, full moon, the Duvel.

 

Nice. Founders is one of my favorite micro brews. I am having your host country's Spaten Optimator for the first time. Enjoy Dover. Was there TDY in USAF many years ago. Fun racetrack if you like Nascar racing.

 

Lost Abbey Agave Maria. Though pricey, this stuff is pretty good. BILF got me in a reggae mood now.

 

Poppin my gahndi cherry after the first week of the new job. God damn that's good.

 

Founders Breakfast Stout...pretty good stout I reckon

 

Damn good.

 

It has been a very busy week and haven't had time to enjoy a beer until today, starting some much needed time off with Velvet Merlin and some Streetlight Manifesto, cheers!

For some reason, after checking out the Degenerate Art (**** confiscated artwork) exhibit at the Neue Gallerie this morning I was in the mood for some beer. Glad I found Earl's Beer and Cheese NYC for some:
Single Cut Amber

And some Midnight Sun IIPA:

 

This perfect start to Father's day weekend!

 

That is some of the most horrible news, as a parent of 3, I could ever imagine hearing. Such a long hard fought battle.
Nothing gets me more emotional than hearing something terrible happening to a child. My thoughts go out to your friend and her family at this trying time.

 

A wonderful surprise was waiting for me at the store-

Ramstein has only been bottling their wheat beers for as long as they've been around. They also make some quality lagers, but they've been draught-only. This is the first bottled lager that I know about.

I guess the Imperal Pilsner fad is over by now, but this turns out to be too good to pass up. The nose is similar to Troegs Cultivator, kind of like a hop-forward Maibock, except this one has a richer Pilsner malt character. The first few sips are like a Maibock as well, but then the hop bitterness makes its presence known. Towards the end of the glass it's all Hallertauers in the nose and balance on the palate, the Pilsner qualities asserting themselves and asking if you'd like another glass. Damn straight I would! This stuff can be very dangerous at 7%. Better late than never, Greg and Co.- great job.
