Allow me to offer my condolences on behalf of Great Lakes. Eddie Fitz is usually an excellent porter, one of which i have held for a couple of years without any deterioration, only improvement. It sounds to me like you have had the misfortune to be the owner of a screwed up bottle. Please try again and let GL know.

While this isn't quite my favorite stout, it's damn delicious and a bit under acknowledged

Plus the name reminds me of the Madonna lodge bar in Smugglers Notch, VT. Love that place.

    Cheers!

Good morning BAs! Starting light today with this:[IMG]

Don't usually like amber/red ales, but I'll make an exception for this one - first had it at the Penn State beerfest in 2005.

Since @Roguer seems to have gotten a hold of a bad one, this best by 7/14/14:

Still very nice at room temp - chocolatey and wonderful. (And now you see why I don't photograph at my desk!)

Weihenstephaner Hefe Weissbier, less than a month old. I broke my Schneider Weisse wheat beer glass a while back and die Frau bought me two new ones for Father's Day because she is the best. Baptizing my first one now. Here is a photo re-creation of the exciting scene.

The few times I've had the Edmund Fitzgerald Porter it impressed me. I love Founders Porter as well but have stumbled across an odd six pack a couple of times that left me scratching my head...

Working on Weihenstephaner Hefe Weissbier #2. This stuff is good.

Time to start up the German rap.

I hope you had a bad bottle, otherwise we can not be friends. Only mortal enemies. Seriously though, if you need another one let me know. If you have enjoyed Black Butte, Founders, or King Titus (closest example for me), I can't imagine not liking Eddy. I have never had a "bad bottle" experience that I know of, other than the Dogfish Head Peach- then noticed it didn't have the raccoon on it. Was a year and a month old. Going to revisit that one, but purely age related. Think I will peruse my list to see some of the out of whack ratings now.

How's this holding up? Had one a few months back and the mint had pretty much disappeared. That being said, it was still great.

@Roguer I have to second this Eddy is astonishing and the closest for me would be King Titus

I absolutely love King Titus - one of my favorite roasty porters out there - and I'm a big fan of Founders Porter, as well. I'll certainly give it another go, but we don't get Great Lakes distro where I live. Hopefully I can find it - and other Great Lakes offerings - on tap before I leave NY state.

It hasn't been a bad vacation thus far.. A bike ride through the hop fields lead me to In De Vrede for the full Westvleteren lineup.

Then, it's a short train ride to Ypres to visit Brasserie Kazematten for the St. Bernardus lineup, including their new Wipers Times 14 Belgian Pale Ale. Rough day.
