First-timer. I'm not much of a hop head, but I am definitely enjoying this one.

Hi folks, I know it's been a while but don't worry—it's not because I don't love (read: have modest, passing affection) all of you (probably some anyway, I'd imagine), but it's because I've been busy as crap. Currently in rural, central Illinois for two weeks for work, and there's not a lot going on around here in terms of craft beer.

But I did manage to get a relatively fresh six-pack of Boulevard Pale Ale, which is affordable and plenty tasty. Saude!

Now onto this barleywine. This one is from 2013; I meant to drink it fresh but forgot about it. I loved this stuff last year. Tastes a bit bitter but still tasty and spicy.

    Reviews:

This was okay. Taste of lemon, cracker, toasted biscuit, light honey, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Light earthy/grassy bitterness on the finish. Low carbonation, but smooth finish. No idea how old this was, but it definitely was. Wasn't horrible though.

Very nice pale ale! Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, pineapple, citrus rind, pine, herbal, grass, cracker, bread, and light honey. Large amount of citrus rind/pine bitterness on the finish that never gets cloying. Moderate malt sweetness, but super hop forward. Very smooth, crisp, and moderately sticky mouthfeel. This was delicious. As usual another good 6 pack buy.

This is awesome. Taste of big milk chocolate, cocoa, coffee, cinnamon, chile pepper, nuttiness, vanilla, brown sugar, toast, and brown bread. Balance of spice and malt flavors is pretty much perfection. This is delicious.
