It's my birthday, and I'll cry if I want to, and I'm happy to be alive with people who still give a shit about me, and drinking what is progressively(not necessarily this one, but its good) the best beer in my life, cheers!

After 5 years and nearly 2300 beers on BA...new style! Not bad really and session-esque at 5.3%abv. I feel like I'm sticking it to the man by staying up "late" and continuing drinking. 6:30a is gonna come awfully early.

Trying my first one of these while my late supper (which, sadly, is not jerk chicken or anything along those lines, despite how appropriate that would be for the beer I'm having) cooks...


Shortest bottle I've ever seen right there... was so much easier to get in close for the picture compared to all the tall bottles I usually have. XD

Somewhat stunned by just how pale this is--almost perfectly transparent, you can even see the red Starr Hill bottle caps on the counter behind it pretty clearly in the picture (even with the distortion from the glass shape!) Flavor is very light, too--but present, and really not bad, though it could use a little more "oomph" to it (that faint grainy/bready bit of flavor in there--it's nice, but why not have just a little more of it?)

And after a bite of food... huh, I'm actually tasting more in the beer than I was before. Am picking up something almost fruity in there now. Seems like this is definitely a "with food" beer more than a "by itself" beer.

Actually surprisingly impressed by this one, considering the reputation it seems to have around here. Well, maybe "impressed" is a bit of a strong word, but I just finished my meal (the beer vanished shortly before the food did) and I actually want another one already, which says good things about the beer I'd say. I think that random biker-looking dude who recommended this to me in the checkout line at Food Lion months ago when I was buying that Yuengling Black & Tan 12-pack may have been on to something... XD

Rain In Blood. Meh. It's just ok but it feels like a break since this only clocks in at 5%. Feeling pretty good after the 10 percenters earlier.

 

At the moment, ZD is being tapped at a local bar 5 minutes down the road from me. Unfortunately, bringing your 7 year old into said establishment is both illegal and frowned upon. That and he doesn't like the idea of being tied to the nearby bike-rack, which is also illegal and frowned upon....so I"m playing it responsible tonight with my next best choice.
