Well...FWIW...I do notice the similarity between the groovy label and your avatar. Too bad the beer does not rate a smiley face:) .

Cut and paste of a nice old label of a brew I'm having now. Fresh, of course!

I saw this thread this AM and was insanely jealous.

I am taking a break from my normal drinking schedule (Fri.-Sun.) to celebrate the submission of all five of my PhD applications. They were all submitted this afternoon! Wish me luck.

I am celebrating with a bottle of Plead the 5th I got in locals for locals trade a while back (I think that was Zaphog, but I honestly can't remember, SORRY!).

This beer is something special. I am not a big stout guy typically, but this is scratching me right where I itch tonight. I am curious as how it changes as it warms.

    Salute!

    Oh my.

In a stunning reversal of standard practice, I think I like this year's iteration of Sierra Nevada Ruthless Rye more (!!!) than last year's. I'm through the looking glass!

Mine looks like this, but in a different glass in a different room and right now:

And it sounds like this (or maybe that's just my imagination):

So far, I enjoy it. That said,it certainly isn't anything to get worked up over and certainly not something that's worth the $17 I paid for the bottle.

Heck, I can get a 4 pack of Small Batch DIPA for less than that and that's one of the few brews of theirs that I dig.

Grabbed a sixer of Syracuse's best IPA to offer its locals. Getting excited for my delivery of a case of deliciousness from Minnesota that should arrive anyday now. Cheers!

    Tick, tick, tick.

I have one more new bottle, but at this point I probably shouldn't pop a bomber of Victory V-12. So for now, an IPA that I've seen a zillion times, but never fresh.

FINALLY, fresh Ballast Point Sculpin :

Thoughts : A decent IPA. Can't believe I payed $20 for a sixer of this though. Keirbmeist, if you see this, it's not worth the hype, bro. Absolutely nothing special here. Could have bought two more Head Hunter four-packs, or old Flower Power, Troegs Perpetual, or....a lot of IPAs. I'm gonna get shit for this I know. The best by date is early May though. It's good, but not for the price.

    Lesson learned, I suppose.

Sorry, but Sculpin is fucking great. 20 bucks is overpriced, because in crazy-price NY it is 14.99

I was a bit disappointed in this one myself but I thought it was because it had a best by date a month BEFORE I drank it. It had a sea water-like aftertaste and was not exceptional in any way.

I will find it fresh one day and try it again.
