Good morning folks! This is the second installment of my ongoing saga.

Last year, around this same time, I started the WBAYDN and told you of my tale. Basically it is this:

In 2013 I was accepted into a PhD program. I got into town a bit early on the day I went to orientation, so I popped into the nearby Whole Foods to grab a coffee. I wondered around the place and was excited to see that they sold beer at their Whole Foods (can't sell beer in grocery stores in Rhode Island). I saw a four pack of Old Rasputin, an old favorite of mine (and many others!). I thought about how well that beer can age and how it would be cool to buy the four pack and drink them with my fellow PhD cohort when we finished. Once I got to know my PhD cohort and found out they're not as excited by drinking beer that is multiple years old as I am, I changed my plan. I decided that since I was going to be pushing extraordinarily hard to accomplish the monumental feet of finishing the PhD program in four years, I had just enough brew to sample one at the conclusion of each year.

In any event, last year, after I completed my first round of PhD coursework I started this thread to show that I've got one down and three to go. Today, I am proud to say that year two is over and despite some crazy personal life stuff, I am still on track. Now I've got two years down and all the course work behind me. Up next are my comprehensive exams (in August), my dissertation proposal defense (hopefully by May of 2016) and my actual dissertation defense (hopefully by May of 2017). But rather than worry about all that crap, I'm gonna tip the second bottle of my Old Raspy four-pack in celebration.

I hope you enjoy your day folks!

    Salute!

Congratulations - 2 down and 2 to go. As a member of your beer cohort, good choice in brews - 2013 was a good year for Old Rasputin - I'm working my way through a case. Just as a refresher, what is your PhD field/goal?

Good morning BAs! It's another typical overcast day here in NW PA - it's already rained once and more will probably be coming, according to the best efforts of the weather guessers. Today's breakfast is:

Gotta say the coffee pops in a while after you drink - I sucked down plenty of expresso in Italy and this doesn't remind me of it at all. Oh well - everyone's tastes are different.

Off of work and already had my fill of coffee. Time to enjoy the nice weather.

I should have slow poured...just a little bit of yeast sediment in this one...

I'm getting a PhD in social work, which feels like I'm getting Phds in both sociology and psychology at the same time, ha. My research will be related to issues of prisoner re-entry, specifically employing the formerly incarcerated.

That looks like a great brew. Low abv crushable craft cans are my speed for sure.

After 16 years (or whatever it's been), I still love the guitar tone on that song.

About to fire up a homebrew batch while wifey is at work.

Cracked open a Backwoods. With 7.5 months of age on it, its tasting mighty fine.
