What beer are you drinking now? #998

Still plowing thru 3 months of mail (and bills) this rainy afternoon...in keeping with my IIPA theme:



More earthy and less malty than the Palate Wrecker - still very good.

 

Lunch beer.....don't judge me....sometimes you need a quick cheap brew - picked this up - new at Aldi's, Tuesday....only $6.49 / six - brewed by Genesee in Rochester NY....not bad

 

Good afternoon. I had to give my liver a two day break after all the beer and baseball from the weekend, but now I need some hops in my life. Thanks to @jzeilinger for sending me this because I never probably would have bought it.

That looks interesting...what's the peach component like?

 

Just a hint of peach and at 8% it's easy drinking. I like it better than I thought I would.

 

One of the best Double/Triple IPA's out there, Lagunitas Hop Stoopid.

 

Someday ... in a perfect world ... Odell will distro to Chicago. That looks soooooo good.

Bacon explosion is on smoker. First : make bacon lattice 2nd take Italian sausage and put in gallon sized ziploc ( just happen to have some of those for beer trading ) roll sausage thin. Cut edges of bag and put sausage atop bacon lattice Add pizza sauce , pepperoni and cheese. Roll up tight and toothpick closed. I've made a breakfast one before too. Bacon lattice , breakfast sausage, sautéed green peppers and onions , cheese and scrambled eggs. Guessing at about 3-4 hours for this behemoth mass of goodness to be done on the smoker. Someone here taught me this.

 

You guys in that big old city have plenty of great beers. We need to make road trips to Colorado. Wyoming doesn't have much for beers, but it's great living here.

 

Moving right along, hey it's my day off! My friend brought this back from Wisco for me. It's ok.

 

Still in keeping with my self imposed IIPA day, I'm dusting off a personal home brew ( I told you I was cleaning out the fridge to make room...), bottled 11/8/13, an IIPA ringing in at 12.5%. Originally a giant mess - including way too hoppy. With time, it is mellowing:



Still too sweet, but the strong hop flavor has began to fade. The color has turned brown - kinda turning into a barleywine style?



It will be interesting to see what more age will do. Cheers!

My overall impression of this beer is it's not bad. I've been spoiled by having fresh kegs of Victory's Headwaters Pale Ale recently that this brew "Pales" in comparison. It's a fine beer and quality made but not really bringing me anything new or exciting to the Style.

That, good sir, is a work of art! It's more of a bacon explosion than I could ever have hoped for, can't wait to see that bad boy after it's smoked!
