Attention smoke lovers: Zoiglhaus has a Lichtenhainer on tap that’s essentially a mildly tart grätzer. Definitely recommend.

Well, it has been a couple of crazy weeks. Long story short, bought a new house, and sold our new house today. So I went to MCWAS and found some HFOD. Seemed like a good choice to unwind with.

I also came across Rusty Nail. So I grabbed one to open when we move in to the new house.

Disclosure: my go to source to post pictures is tinypic. They shut down. What’s a good site to use? It appears the one i tried just gives you a link to the pic.

Grabbing food and a pint at Broadway Saloon before heading downtown for tonight's Timbers match against a bunch of hosers from Vancouver.

    Breakside IPA. It still satisfies.

Match day at Providence Park. I'm enjoying my usual beer (Von Ebert Sector 7 IPA) in my usual spot (Section 207, right below the camera platform).

Got to try the traditional Sahti AA brewed for a Belmont event a few weeks ago. First off, it bears very little resemblance to Sahati (my favorite AA beer), but it was enlightening.

Knowing that the guy they brought from Norway to help brew it gave his seal of approval, I tried to imagine how I would feel about this beer if I was a 18th/19th century Norwegian farm hand and this was part of my reward for a successful harvest. Softly sweet with a berry character and 8.4% I’d feel pretty good about a mug or three to celebrate. Getting to chat with Paul about the brewing experience (he let Mika take the lead, they fermented at 100 degrees, there’s a blessing/prayer/song involved, etc.) made it even better.

Speaking of Sahati, there’s a still version at the tasting room; the lack of carbonation accents different flavors than the regular version, but they could pull off that it was intentional rather than a happy little accident.

I use imgur. Easy enough to upload (and the option for it to be private... something I learned the hard way, ha), either from the phone or from the computer. Just copy the .jpg url and you're good to go

I, too, use Imgur. It's slightly clunky, but simple enough that even I can use it. Be sure to to private, unless you enjoy every talking meatwad commenting on your pic.

Second pour of this and probably gonna finish off the whole damn growler. Might as well. Picked this up on Friday while over at Thunder Island. Fabio's Locks. A Belgian Strong Ale clocking in at 7.5%. Easy to drink, very thin and little carb. Nice pear and banana esters with a touch of peppery spice. A good beer but not threatening any of the true Belgian staples. Cheers.

Drinking a chuckanut pils at the Apex. Was over at beermongers, and so figured why not? As good as always; just an all together excellent pils.

Cousins house. BBQ. Taking it down a notch after that growler of Fabio's beautiful golden Locks.

Opened up Ferment's Imperial Stout last night and enjoyed it. Finishes on the sweeter side, but not so much so that it takes away from the actual stout flavors. Super smooth. Again, if you go to Hood River and you are a person who likes stouts or old ales as I do, do yourself a favor and stop by the Ferment taproom for those bottles. $13 - to me - was a good value for them.

Enjoying an Ex Novo, Cactus Wins the Lottery. Actually quite nice. Better than I remember even, despite the asshole neighbor kid playing his trumpet with all windows open while I try to put my kids to bed. Fuck, I'm getting old.

Hot today. Couldn't think of a better beer (style) to pair with it. Very clean and dry, only kind of "soapy" with a soft oakiness to it. Cheers.

Quick pint of Occidental's brand spanking new Fresh Hop Pilsner. Definitely grabbing a couple of four packs. Even better news... Just confirmed they will be canning their Oktoberfest this year! Prost

Went to 10 Barrel’s Beer Wars tonight, an annual (since 2014 or so) pre-Brewfest event. It’s a great low-key IPA fest in the parking lot of the Galveston Ave. pub. It continues to feel very much like something “for the locals” despite the brewery’s growth.

I would love to be enjoying a Fresh Hop Pilsner, and will likely track some down this weekend.

But for now I'm enjoying a Lucky As Helles from realside, and it's quite good.
