Believe it or not...Bass Ale ... never forget it. Sitting, of all places, in Portsmouth (but, long before the mad craft beer craze). The rest is history and "chewy mouthfeel." hehe

    PS- always a great topic

DFH 60 minute did it for me. I see I'm not alone and I'm not surprised!

I unfortunately started with Corona and then the first craft beer I tried was Karl Strauss' Red Trolley. Then I tried Yuengling and my first real entry to my expensive craft beer habit was Old Rasputin.

I think I transitioned from BMC into euro macros like Grolsch and eventually into Guinness and what not. Eventually I got into American craft beers like Fat Tire. From there it just became a new world of discovery. I know a lot of guys think New Belgium sucks for whatever reason, but NB showed me, as a macro drinker, that beer can have amazing flavor profiles. Ironically, I don't really care for NB much these days, but they get credit for opening the door.

I remember my PBR and Coors Lt. days being thrown into the wind when my dad introduced me to Orval. God bless him...

New Glarus Spotted Cow and Lakefront IPA. Still enjoy Lakefront IPA at the brewery.

I shunned all beer for years. Even in college I'd drink liquor instead of that watery tasteless piss my friends were drinking.
Then I got a pack of Terrapin Wake n Bake to cook in a recipe (because I figured it would add more robust flavor than a standard stout) and thought it smelled fantastic while I was mixing it it. I had 2 bottles left over so I decided to give one a try. Bless that delicious oatmeal coffee goodness, I've been hooked ever since and WnB is still a favorite of mine that I get a case of every year.

Years ago it was Rhino Chasers American Ale, and then I went back to Bud Light. About 18 months ago I had an Oberon and have not had anything but craft since.

My friend introduced me to this back in the mid-90s....It's still a staple in my fridge every Christmas.

I started drinking good beers when I was still in high school (think Sunday football with the fam). It all started with Dragon Stout, a dark, rich chocolatey stout produced in Jamaica and is no longer available (which makes me weep). Sam Smith Oatmeal Stout and Sam Adams Boston Lager, Cream Stout and several others were common in the fridge throughout that time. I continued exploring beers in college but was surrounded mostly by Natural Light :astonished: and Keystone Light  due to its cost. When the Bier Markt (http://bier-markt.com/) opened in Cleveland's Ohio City neighborhood, I was finally swept away into the land of Belgian's and my further exploration into the world of beers from around the world and the eventual appreciation for true craft brews of the US, which continues today. The beers that provided the "hook, line and sinker" was Delirium Tremens, Ommegang 3 Philosophers, Chimay Grande Reserve, and Unibroue La Fin du Monde (which were all consumed on my first visit to Bier Markt). From then on, my fascination for great beers hasn't slowed down and caused me to be a Beer Advocate and beer trader, both on BA and locally with other hopheads.

    Cheers

    Andrew

Sammy Smiths and New Castle were the first beers that took me from bud to craft, but i will give all the credit to stone IPA for creating the addiction i have today.
