    Pliny the Elder

I was in San Francisco for the first time at a random bar and the bartender told me they had Pliny on tap. I had zero idea what that meant at the time, but I shrugged and ordered it.

Things have never been the same since....

Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, then I tired Sierra Nevada Torpedo and it's been fun (and expensive) ever since.

Went skiing at Steamboat in 96 or 97, can't remember the date, but I do remember drinking this great beer called Fat Tire.

In the summer of 2005 I took a vacation to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. I was drinking a lot of the standard stuff. One time I went to the hotel bar and asked if they hd anything local. They gave me a Yuengling. I loved it! It was the beer that started me on the craft beer thing.

Yuengling still holds a place in my heart, and I still love their products.

I lived in Sacto, CA 76-99, so probably an Anchor Steam or Sierra Nevada brew.

    Cheers!

    Sam Adams Octoberfest.

At the time, Boston Lager was just a bit too strong for my tastes. But Octoberfest had a touch of sweetness that I couldn't quite get from BL. It was still strong, but after going through a few six packs I was on board.

I stuck with Sam for quite a while, before becoming more adventurous and trying some imperial stouts and DIPA's. The first RIS I tried was Old Rasputy. Definitely kicked my ass but I kind of liked it. Then I tried I think it was Green Flash Imperial IPA and loved it from the start.

Now I'm waiting in line to get Tree House or Trillium or whatever. What the hell has happened to me?

Went to visit a friend and his family. After dinner he told me to put away my car keys and prepare to have my mind blown. Then he opened the AB and the genie was out of the bottle, so to speak.

I'd call that a craft beer baptism by fire. Lucky you.

in the early seventies my dad would give me a little of his beer, usually a red white and blue or an Olympia. then, in the late seventies when I was in high school(go purgolders!) it was miller beer, not mgd or lite, miller high life! and to get truly effed up on a sixer, it was elephant beer!. then I moved to Chicago in 1980 and drank the crap out of old style , with some anchor steam here and there.
the nineties brought sam adams , which was good. throw in some berghofs and pilsner urquells for good measure.
then came the sampler packs like the michelobes. and the sam adams (old fesslewig).
and this takes me to about the year 2009. and I was ice fishing with my brother and he handed me a anti hero, and I said , damn! sure is bitter! a week later I was at binnys looking for that stuff. and there you have it.

    the rest is history!

I always drank a variety of styles, and suppose I never had that world flipping moment. 'Craft' beer was just added to my rotation as it became available- Anchor, New Amsterdam, stuff like that.

I would probably say the Silver City Panther Lake Porter. I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was so I ended up researching beer and here I am now.

Saranac (Adirondack Lager, black and tan, etc) in the early 90's. More recently... Hopslam and Bell's Batch 9000 both on draft a few years ago.

During my senior year of college, a beer bar in New Haven, Indiana was serving $7 pitchers of Zombie Dust (I look back now in amazement of such an event). A friend kept harping me about joining him, so I gave in one night. My wallet hasn't been the same since.
