What beer kicks your BUTT?

I forgot Mad Elf was as strong as it was this year, vaguely (and erroneously) recalling it to be somewhere around 8%. Good lord, I won't make that mistake again.

 

You start a fight with Old Rasputin, you lose a fight with Old Rasputin.

 

For me it's beers in the 7-8% range. They sneak up fast, especially when they are easy to drink. Examples would be Schlafly Belgian Golden Ale, Prairie Ale, Xocoveza, and Sculpin.

 

4 packs of Prairie Bomb or Bible Belt. Or the 4 pack of BCBS I drank as gift to myself on Christmas. Or, at the other end of the spectrum, SNPA does sometimes too if its hot out and I chain drink them all day.

 

Yep... So much better with a year on it. Just smooth honey and drunkenness.

 

Lucifer / not because of the ABV, but I swear for whatever reason even just one of those gives me a hangover, so I have abstained from drinking them unless I am going to have a hangover anyway due to volume

 

It's actually the, thinking of how to put this, more strong flavor forward beers that sneak up on me. I tend to nurse strong flavor or more viscous mouth-feel beers almost on instinct, if you give me something more delicately flavored with a decent ABV I tend to go through it faster and as a result it tends to sneak up on me.

 

Yea... any strong belgian hits me hard, because I can drink them so damn easily! Most of them don't taste like their abv, and it's hidden very well so I drink them quite quickly.

But to point out some in particular, Dogfish Olde School hit me hard on just one 12 ozer. Also Brew Dog's Tokyo. Just don't go driving later on and tell the officer that pulls you over that you "just had one beer"

 

N'Ice Chouffe. Every. Damn. Time.

 

Brown Shugga; it seems to literally cause me to kick out my butt at 6 am after 3 of em.

 

750ml Piraat. This beer always feels stronger to me than the 10.5% abv as indicated on the bottle.

 

A pint of Dragon's Milk puts that stupid smile on my face, too.

 

La Fin du Monde or Tripel Karmeliet will take me there with a glass. But hands down Final Absolution is the winner for "I really shouldn't but I'm gonna have another..."

 

Monk's Mistress seems to make my ass sink a little deeper into the recliner as well.

 

I often get surprisingly shitfaced on Fin du Monde, despite my regular consumption of whisky and other beers with higher ABV.

For me it is the ultimate hangover inducer, I don't allow myself to have any unless I'm not drinking very much that night. Love it though.

 

Came here to say that. Drank it over about an hour and half then finished my night with a couple IPAs. Took me the better part of the next day to recover.

 

I concur with those who brought up Pugachev's. I squared off with one last week and it did me like Thunderlips did Rocky.
