Im not new to drinking at all haha, but I just started drinking pricier beers. Not expensive ones necessarily, just not keystone lol. I'm a fan of yuengling, I like Belgian whites like blue moon and hoegaarden, Guinness is good, and definitely a big fan of molson Canadian. I'm still pretty new to the beer world so what should I try? i was thinking some ipas or something, but give me your input. Thanks

If you like Belgian whites, try Allagash White for a start

Try Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, its a classic, tastes great, and easy to find. Also it's got good hop flavor and once your used to it I would seek out some IPA's. A good IPA to try would be Stone IPA.

+1 on the Sierra Nevada Pale Ale and the Allagash White suggestions.

Also grab Brooklyn Lager. Phenomenal beer.

Anchor Steam is another great one.

Enjoy and welcome to the obsession!

Sierra Nevada can be found in most grocery stores. You may have a slightly harder time finding Allagash depending on where you live, but it is readily available on the east coast and in CA.

Stone is pretty common. You may have seen Arrogant Bastard (in the big 22 oz bottle)...I wouldn't recommend trying that one just yet. I believe the IPA comes in 6-packs.

For what it's worth, ambers and pale ales are what I started out with regularly and went bolder from there (IPA's, stouts, on and on...)

    Enjoy!

Go for the Arrogant Bastard. Don't be a wuss! Just stay away from Ruination [for now]. And now that you have found something else, compare the price of say Molson Golden and a decent craft beer. Take the ABV into consideration. Unless you're buying the Molson on sale, there isn't a huge difference.

This is your beer schedule for the next two weeks, provided you can obtain all these (tried to keep them accessible but east coasters can feel free to make appropriate substitutions):
Day 1: La Fin Du Monde
    Day 2: Ayinger Celebrator Doppelbock
    Day 3: Rochefort 8
Day 4: St. Bernardus Abt 12
Day 5: Guinness Foreign Extra Stout
Day 6: Deschutes Black Butte Porter
Day 7: Avery new World Porter
Day 8: Sierra Nevada Pale Ale
Day 9: New Belgium Ranger IPA
    Day 10: Sierra Nevada Torpedo
Day 11: Firestone Walker Double Jack
    Day 12: Stone Ruination
    Day 13: Stone Old Guardian
Day 14: Victory Storm King (fresh!)

Day 15: try Blue Moon again. Mind = blown.

I recommend Dogfish Head and Magic Hat.

Magic hat is very reasonably priced and has some nice 12pk samplers. Dogfish is a great stepping stone into the craft beer world. Start with 60 Minute IPA, then 90 Minute, and end with 120 Minute and you will probably never want a Molson again. This is how I was "initiated"

Go Belgian. Blanche de Bruxelles, Blanche de Chambly, St. bernardus Wit, then try Belgian strongs like ABT 12, Chimay, Allagash.

Hop Devil was my gateway IPA, but I'd say Two Hearted Ale. If you get Great Lakes, Burning River or Dortmunder Gold. New Belgium Shift is also pretty damn good, simple, clean lots of flavor.

    What state are you in?

I like the magic hat suggestion. Boulevard also makes a lot of good brews to help you learn some of the different styles. Start out with their regular offering and then you can move your way up to the smokestack series. Sam Adams and Sierra Nevada are also good gateway breweries.

A lot of companies make 12 pack mixers which is a good way to get introduced to new companies and new styles. Just be careful not to rule out a particular style if you don't like the way one company makes it.
