Once you progress to only preferring "big beers" over 10% I guess the next logical step is craft wine, ciders and liquor. I just see the craft brewers being smart and leveraging their risks. Plus most people whom make wine, shines and beer...beer is the most difficult to dial in. Much easier to make a high quality liquor than beer from what I've been told.

I know Rogue was mentioned in the start up, but wanted to say their gin is great.

I think technically Triple 8 distillery (and Nantucket Winery) are officially separate businesses from Cisco Brewing - some quirk of laws when they were starting up.) though they are under the same ownership.
BTW, the Triple 8 vodka is great - nice and smooth.

How is that rum? I'm never been a rum guy (well, save for high school when I was the "hard liquor" dude that hated beer and would drink bacardi and Sprite. Yikes!). I've never been big on Newport Storms' beers, but I'd be curious about the rum. It's a dark rum no? A dark and stormy in the summertime is a nice drink to have.

I've only ever seen Rogue's whiskey and gin spirits on the shelves at my local bottle shop. I wouldn't buy them though - not because I have anything against Rogue's beers - but because of the price tag and the marketing gimmick. That, and I don't like gin. And if I really wanted whiskey - I live in Kentucky, enough said.

You are spot on. Triple Eight Distillery (1998), Cisco Brewers (1995), and Nantucket Vineyards (1981) are all owned by the same people (awesome folk), operate on the same property, but are technically three different companies. Triple Threat

Elysian had a gin they made the last time I went to one of their brewpubs. I'm not sure what AB InBev will do to change that.

Rogue Brewery has a gin too although I've never had it.
