Funny. I just had fire rock pale ale 20 minutes ago and really enjoyed it.

Ballast Point. I've had many from them. I've stopped buying their stuff. Not into it.

Weyerbacher. I've had many great beers from them. I've had very bad beers from them. They are currently off my radar after cinnsanity.

Victory. I feel every single beer I've had. About 20, were in a way too sweet for me. Dirt wolf Is the only exception

For some positivity I'll try every from flying dig, sixpoint and anchor.

Ballast Point. All their adjunct beers taste extremely artificial. There is no way anyone can convince me that they use real grapefruit or pineapple or whatever other adjunct in any of their beers unless I actually watch them brew it.

There are a ton of breweries with wide or in-state distro networks that surprise me. Surprise in the sense that I'm not sure how they can have a huge quantity of beers sitting on shelves at hundreds of stores and still be making a profit.

    strong beers?!?!

    1. key lime pie - freaking vile
    2. black chia india cream ale - even more vile
    3. aorta ale - ugh
    4. uncle steve's irish stout- the ONLY redeeming beer i've ever had from shorts
    5. soft parade- i've been to mardi gras; this is vile.
6* more from shorts that i gave up recording, because quite frankly i'm embarrassed that i bought their beers.

Pittsburgh Area - Full Pint, East End Brewing and Rivertowne (most of their beers, not all) and Rock Bottom Brewery in Homestead

Other breweries - Shorts, Abita, Rogue, New Belgium, Chameleon Brewing (absolutely horrible)

There are others, but these are the ones that come to mind

Can you expound on that? What was the shift? For example, when I finally stopped hating SN Celebration Ale was when I started to appreciate the balance of sweet-ish malts and the potent hop bitterness. I started to smell citrus rind and pine. My eyes were opened. What was it for you?

This is not because of the buyout, but I've never had a Goose Island beer from their regular lineup (312, IPA, etc.) that I have enjoyed. Bland and soulless, in my opinion. I'll never buy a six-pack of them.

I was at a tasting and a friend responded to me telling him how much I hate lamibcs and wilds by taking me to a friend who was pouring an aged Vigneronne. He actually had to talk me into having a taster of it. Since that day I have found I love every style of sour and wild including the more hormonally funky bretts. It was an instant and complete shift It is why I always recommend folks keep trying something they can observe others enjoying.

I agree with Shorts but must give credit to their double brown Good Humans beer, Controversial IPA, Soft Parade,Space Rock, and possibly Good Night Bodacious if it ages right because fresh Goodnight was horrible and should be renamed Godawful Bodacious with how bad it was.

Hill Farmstead to me, they are obviously held in high regard, but they are totally overrated to me.

Haha made me realize that a lot of folks think they are the best brewery in the world, and I think they are only 3rd or 4th best, so I guess I agree they are overrated

haha fair enough, you've clearly given them a shot. But what about Bellaire Brown? There are also a handful of good one-off IPAs with goofy names I can't recall (I'm not big on humalupaliscious though), Locals Light is a strong American lager, and the main thing to me is that there seems to always be something on tap at their brewery that everyone in a given party can enjoy.

I get why they're huge. But I wasn't too fond, but if someone bought one for me or that was I could drink at a bar I wouldn't displeased. Just not my go to beer by any means.

I had to sample the goose ipa today at my job to prove it was the ipa and not another beer because the customer claimed it was fruity. Never wanted to vomit so quick. Not shit talking. Truly was not impressed.

Overly priced and I just feel that the beer is average. Nothing special by any means.

Good topic. So many ones I could mention but the biggest stand out is Sierra Nevada. I don't get the love. All the beers have a similar core taste, I could pick a SN beer out of a blind line up with confidence. They don't do any style well (sorry, their ipas and pale ales are mediocre at best). I continue to give them chance after chance but it's a lost cause.
