So my sister-in-law is coming from San Diego to visit in early March and asked me to make a list of beers for her to bring. I am asking you guys for help on what CA or (even San Diego local beers) would be best for me to ask for. The only things off the table would be brewery exclusive releases (she has a really nice bottle shop down the street) and sours (I don't like them)

    Thanks in advance

    All easy to get:

Modern Times: Booming Rollers, Blazing World, Fortunate Islands, City of the Dead, Orderville, whatever 22oz seasonal is out then
    Pizza Port: Swamis
El Segundo: whatever is fresh / available
Beachwood BBQ: whatever is fresh / available
    Karl Strauss: Aurora Hoppyalis
Smog City: Coffee Pot Porter, The Nothing
    Alesmith: Speedway Stout
Bottle Logic: whatever is fresh / available
Lost Abbey: Serpent Stout, maybe a barrel aged offering
    Belching Beaver: various stouts
Maybe a Firestone or Bruery release hanging around

There's a start. Any particular style you like or are looking for? The SD locals can take it from here.

I love IPA's but my only fear is they wont be as fresh as I'd like and I wont enjoy them as much. I love stouts, barleywines, scotch ales, quads, and strong ales (and barrel aged of all of them). Last time she was able to grab me a track #10 , 10 commandments, a speedway stout, and a st. archer mosaic ipa.

If you enjoy IPA's, Booming Rollers is a must-get. It will absolutely be very fresh as it's Modern Times' March-May seasonal. The only question will be whether her visit coincides with the release.

I should have clarified, she is coming on March 2nd I believe, so unless it is released on the 1st I doubt it. Also with Modern Times, are all their special release beers brewery only? Also how is the Tusk & grain series from St. Archer?

I would have her snag at least one of the three tusk and grain beers....blend 02 or the variants. The Mexican chocolate variant is unique and worth it at $16 albeit a little thin (but they're not BA stouts). Pugachevs cobra is solid and readily available now. Mother of all storms is prevalent in Northern California right now so may be in SD. Berserker, High Westified and BA jolly Rodger may be around SoCal too.

Not a beer request, any chance of her sending you Drew Pomeranz? O's could use more starting pitching.

No can do, he is already in Boston. However, When she leaves she can take Ubaldo and the rest of the contract with her
