Yeah I sanitized everything pretty thoroughly, because I was constantly pretty worried about infection. I guess I'll see if the carbonation worsens over time. Thanks for the help.

What about the bottles themselves that you transferred into? Sanitized? Just a thought... anyways, my guess is that despite this initial speed bump, that you will continue to learn more about brewing, find a buddy or two locally (great advice above about a homebrew club), and keep on keepin' on. Like anything, it is a learning process... and if I can do it, anyone can do it. Excited to see your post about the successful batch next time

Your experience sounds very similar to mine. I think I made beer but it's boozy and seems a bit thin (this is based off of me sampling flat 70F fermenter bucket beer on my bottling day). I'm almost ready to drink my first batch; I need to let my bottles condition for a week or two more.

I have a question for you: I'm guessing you bottled. How many bottles have you had so far? I'd be interested to hear if every bottle is overcarbonated. If you have a few more, maybe some will be flatter than others? If so, I'm guessing it could just be that the sugar didn't get mixed evenly. Just a guess. I'm new.

Yeah, i've read about this happening to people. But I've cracked open 5/10 bottles I brewed and every one has had a similar issue. So unless I opened 5/5 over-carbonated ones and the rest are flat, it seems like my problem was batch-wide.

I'm a novice but I do know that your beer can change a lot after a few weeks in the bottles. Hope yours turns out really tasty. Good luck!

Curious as to what happened. Wish I had a better response for you. Do another batch! I feel like new homebrewers need practice more than anything. I need work on getting a good cleaning and sanitizing regimen in order and on regulating my pitch temp and fermentation temp (among other things). Thanks for the encouragement. Just need to keep at it I guess.

Sounds like your sanitation around bottling, or you adding too much priming sugar.

Not much else to look at.
