This made me laugh so hard I snorted and spit my coffee out. Some of the stuff I see here and other places makes my day. Apparently no one else thought this was funny....

I'm glad I could make your day. Figured somebody would appreciate my stupidity.

If the beer tastes good now can I just drink it?

I think pie weights are actually the best way to go for the hop bag. Nonporous, much more neutral in flavor, and easy to boil until they're ready to drop in. Also easy to calibrate the number to use to get nice floating in the middle of the batch.

Absolutely, but be prepared to drink all of it pretty fast. There's no way I would put that in bottles. If one of those bottles exploded you could spread some new form of mutant life that could wipe out the planet.

I just tasted it, doesn't taste particularly good or bad but then again none of my beers taste good before they are carbonated. How long does it take a pellicle to fall?

Dammit. This was going to be my next april fools prank post.

Actually, this is no worse than the guy who used to soak a sponge in starsan and used it to wipe the inside top and lid of his bucket after gravity checks. IIRC though, he ultimately refused to believe that a sponge could not be kept sanitary (without an autoclave or the like).

If it tastes okay, I guess I might keg it. Kegs can be sanitized.

This is the same beer that had a fruit fly starter and a fruit fly wort. Lava rock / fruitfly belgian pale ale. Hopefully it goes over well at my sons birthday party. If someone dies would I be liable?

My pellicle fell in about 5 days . . . completely cleared up and tasted okay. But this was at the beginning of fermentation.

I see you between a rock and a hard spot with two options:

Drink immediately . . . if the yeast is evil, let your kidneys discipline it.

Age it until at least 2014 . . . then start the Tour de Kidney.

Real homebrewers finish what they start.

All kidding aside, if I were gonna keg this I'd first rack it to a clean carboy and add a Campden tablet to it and let it sit a few days to make sure the bugs are dead. Then I'd feel a lot safer drinking it.
