I live in Louisville, KY. We are lucky enough to be home of Sergio's World Beers, which has roughly 1,400 different bottles of beer to choose from (plus 40+ drafts). I was amazed the first time I saw it.

Are there places anywhere that have a larger selection? Does anyone know who has the largest?

I recently read an article about HopCat's plans to open a place in Detroit that will have roughly 130 taps...not sure on the plans for a bottle listing, but that's a hell of a tap list. Reportedly going to run about 3.3million to get it up and running.

Largest selection I've ever seen of beers all over the world would likely be State Line Liquors in Elkton, MD.

If your talking about the world, the world record is held by Delirium Cafe in Brussels. When they got the record they had 2,004 beers available. I bought their menu (book) which was 258 pages long. granted there are pages that are full page ads for breweries. They have 3 stories with 3 different bars, bottles on the bottom, draft on the 2nd and IPA's on the top (only open during happy hours)

Julios might be the largest for beer in general that I've seen, but State Line Liquors in Elkton by far for the amount of imports/belgians. I almost don't buy anything cause I can't decide!...Of course I then decide on too many things and spend many $$$.

And right across the alley is a bar with the world's largest selection of liquor.

I only wish I appreciated beer when I was there like I do now.

kid in a candy store. the bartender seemed to be getting annoyed because I didn't know what i wanted. Really you expect me to mull over 2000 beers, of which I have probably only heard of 200 and pronounce even less? you pick for me.

I'm imagining a near human extinction event where humanity builds it's numbers back up and some explorer discovers thousands of beers buried in one place. That's even better than finding a golden sarcophagus.

Sergio himself has said he has the 3rd largest selection. Don't know if that's true, but I always enjoy wandering around looking through all the coolers...

No world record, but the biggest bottle shop I've ever seen was in Durham, North Carolina and it's called Sam's Quik Stop. Pretty sure that's how it was spelled... from the outside it just looked like a random gas station, but inside... wow.

I don't know today as I see so many beer focused bars. There are thousands of breweries with so many offerings so the potential supply is limitless.
But I remember around 1990 walking into a little joint in Georgetown called The Brickskellar. They had a bottled beer menu that was like 6 pages. When you looked in the huge beer fridge behind the bar there was no more than 2 of any selection.
They grouped all the beer by country not style. 1990 was way before the craft beer phenomena took hold here in the US so this makes it even more amazing. I remember having a Pete's Wicked Ale and this was like my first "Craft" beer. I was just out of college in 90 and still mostly a PBR drinker. This place was like Nirvana so whenever business took me to Washington I stopped in.
    Sorry for sharing this flashback.
BTW: The Brickskellar is now the Bier Baron Tavern. Worth a stop when you're in D.C.

Another shout for Beers of Europe. Made the pilgrimage there last summer and wasn't disappointed.

As for draught beer, I read that a pub in London is opening with 970 beers on tap of almost entirely idenitical beer. I'll be damned if I could find the article.

My favourite pub only has a few different beers. They are brilliantly kept and dispensed however and that's all a man could wish for.I've been where there were 1000 different beers (all on cask too) but really that's overkill with a vengeance.I didn't get to drink half of them

We had a Pennsylvanian and a Virginian both say the best bottle shop in MD: State Line Liquors. Well, the bar with the best selection in MD (and one of the best in the country) is Max's Taphouse. I don't know an exact tap number but it is between 104 (normally) and 140+ for special events. They have thousands of bottles and three separate bars.

Hop City in Birmingham, AL usually has around 1800 different packaged beers and has 60 draft taps for growlers, of which 20 taps are reserved for Alabama brewed beers.
