I intend to do just that my friend... But don't be surprised if I bring something down to Destin anyways. Cheers!

I should have traded with you back in the day then... I'm actually surprised we haven't before.

There was a four month window when I could buy as much cantillon as I wanted... and another year or so before the reserves dried up. Extras, BIF boxes, lots o cantillon. Now I just stockpile gueuze and trade the rest, although nary a cantillon has made it's way to my hands in a while round these here parts.

What I do send: Stuff from my recipient's want list or beers within his favorite style. Things he's reviewed highly. My locals, provided he doesn't get them in his area already.

Things I do not send: Stuff my recipient rated poorly, stuff my recipient can get off the shelf where he lives. Stuff he clearly states in his profile he does not like. Stuff that I received from others that's garbage that simply shouldn't be continuously passed on from one person to the next. Outdated beer.

New the trading scene, but I have completed a few trades within the past couple weeks and I have found pretty good success trading nice seasonals/one-off-brews from local/regional breweries not available to my trading partner. I would love to hit my partner's wants list, but that isn't always an option. Given that only a couple of the breweries in SC bottle their brews, I've recently been thinking about possibly sending a couple 1/2 growlers of local stuff (especially from the Charleston breweries) as extras. Anyone have any thoughts regarding this idea?

Not a bad idea, though growlers are more difficult to ship than bottles, can easily leak, and will generally cost more (considering growlers are usually more expensive per oz + bigger and heavier boxes to ship). That's not to say don't do it, but if you try to stick two half growlers in every trade just as extras, you'll probably take much bigger dings to your wallet for doing so.

I try to include locals that i drink on a regular basis that aren't available outside of New England. I would never regift an extra. Bad form, bad karma. Try everything once if you can.

This isn't the norm, but I won't comment further on how common it is. I generally try to include some cheaper wants or one pricier want and some homebrew. I have a much harder time hitting wants now since I'm 300 miles away from my cellar so now I usually have to buy locals for extras. I don't buy garbage for extras.

It's always depending on your relationship with your trading partner. For one of my buddy, I traded beer A of mine to get beer B, then trade again beer B for beer C. Then, I include beer C as extras for him.
