Got a six pack of Hopslam, cracked one open in anticipation, and couldn't understand why everyone else enjoyed it. Not a fan at all. Eh...they made great trade extras

Great question, great answer. I just don't care much for it, and never could understand its 100 rating...

If Devil Dancer counts as a "good" beer, then that. Gross, abrasive boozy-onion flavor.

I thought I felt the same way until recently. I'd just been having the wrong beers. Bourbon BA stouts are so common, yet I think those flavors work the worst together out of the bourbon BA beers I've had so far. I think bourbon barrel again works very well in a quad. Backwoods makes me think I'd like to try another bourbon BA scotch ale too. Very impressed with that one.

Ha, I know, that's what this thread's about though. Taste being subjective and all that.

That's interesting because my beer geek neighbor had a bottle from the same batch and he thought I was crazy. He couldn't taste the onion/garlic at all!

I never defined what I meant by "good beer", but I implied that it means "highly rated on Beer Advocate".

Also going with Founders Breakfast Stout. I tried and tried again and can't come to agree with the BA user ratings. I'd rather have a coffee.

    Any BCBS and it's varients.

Not a bourbon or coffee fan at all.

Triple Van DeGarre, Klokke Roeland I'm good for 1 at most, but you can bet I'm not gonna order it!

World Wide Stout. Doesn't work for me.

Russian River Supplication is one of the highest ranked wild ales on the site. But I thought it was way too tart and sour, not enjoyable.

Arrogant Bastard. The hop and malt mix just really did nothing for me.

La Folie. I'm a sour head, but I found it to be one note.

I was in the same boat until I tried some funky/sour saisons. Get your hands on some HF Arthur or Logsdon Seizon Bretta and I'll bet you'll have a change of heart! I prefer the more dry, less sweet saisons for sure.

Sierra Nevada Celebration. I don't get it. I don't like the aftertaste at all. It also is a very subtle beer. Not much going on in it for me. Is this why people like it?

And I thought I was the only one. Everything I've tried from Anchor is mediocre at best to me.

Six Point Sensi-Harvest rates an 86 on here with 538 ratings and it awful. No body, and it tastes like onion-water. I just don't get that one and I generally am pretty much in line with BA ratings give or take on similar styles. The worst PA or IPA or session "whatever" I have ever had....yes, worse than Longhammer IPA (the worst widely available IPA on the market)...by a wide margin.

Founders Breakfast Stout (good beer, but nothing special)
Sculpin (I don't get the hype over this beer, I've had much better IPA's)
Paulaner Salvator (I love a good dopplebock and this is the O.G. of the style - I've tried on several occasions to like it but its just a beer that I don't enjoy)
