Are there people out there that rave about the newest shock top flavor? Or black crown? People who find distinct flavors in aals. I've never met one, only people who say they like "normal beer". But there must be some BMC geeks out there?

My wife has a friend who truly believes that Bud Light is the best beer made. No shit.

Maybe not beer snobs, per se, but I have friends who will only drink Coors Light even to the point of refusing Bud Light, or other variations of this. Weird.

Everyone in my family brings a different case of macro to family BBQ's. Because they can't imagine having to drink a different brand than their usual.

There's comfort food, and then there's comfort drink. Like an old friend who has an open invitation to any party.

They are BMC snobs such as the ones that drink just one brand but I dont think any of them ever try to keep.up with beer news.

    Unfortunately...

I know of some people that laugh at me for drinking "fancy beer" and say I'm "too good for the real stuff". Makes sense.

Coors Light is by far the best of the AALs. I would refuse a Miller Lite or a Bud Light over a Coors Light anyday.

I really want to do a blind tasting of bud light, coors light, and miller lite with that crowd. Maybe even throw in a PBR because I just don't think that any of them will be able to pick out their brand!

If anything, I've found many, many more BMC snobs than actual craft beer snobs. Most craft beer enthusiasts will drink a huge wide variety of beer. On the other hand, there are lots of people who are militant about coors being the best, bud being the best, etc.

No, People who drink Bud (heavy or light) would no more drink Shock Top or Black Crown than they would drink SNPA. They drink what they like.

Given where I work (beer department of a liquor store), I've actually seen a reasonable amount of misplaced snobbery. The most irritating and, lamentably, common bit seems to be the belief amongst a contingent of the AAL crowd that buying Bud Light Platinum makes them somehow a cut above the plebeians buying all the other beers in the store--presumably this has something to do with Platinum's SUPER-high 6% ABV! and top-shelf taste!--while these selfsame plebeians are the ones asking me all day where to find the Rochefort 10, the RuinTen, the Speedway Stout, the 50/50 Eclipse...and usually being much nicer about it than the BLP crowd, too!

But on the other end of the spectrum, there're also the ones who, while they don't exactly get all high-and-mighty about their AAL selections, will nevertheless actively shut down any attempts to recommend something a bit different. These are the ones who will pick Michelob Raspberry-Pomegranate over Rubaeus, the ones who will reach for a six-pack of Bud Light when a The Crisp is staring them right in the face...and who will be proud of their choice, to boot. I once had a customer interrupt me in the middle of a bumbling but enthusiastic description of the flavor profile of SN Hoptimum with the following words:

"Chief, I don't know what 'full-cone' means and I don't really care. I just want a nice solid American beer, none of this foreign ****. You carry High Life?"

...I didn't have the heart to correct him.

Edit: So having finished up that particular rant, I actually bothered to take a closer look at the initial question...and I would say that while I've certainly met my fair share of AAL beer snobs, I've never met an AAL geek. The customers who come in looking for Bud, Miller, etc. and aren't jerks about it usually end up just telling me that they like how "light and crisp" their particular AAL of choice is. Rarely is flavor mentioned at all, let alone any particularities of flavor (perhaps because there aren't any...?).

I wouldn't call them "snobs" but my aunt and uncle won't touch anything but Miller Lite. They are from Central IL and when they come to visit I always bring a few different things to drink for myself and the family and they just won't go near it.

I have a friend of mine who will only drink Bud Light. Nothing else. I was with him at a bar one night that only had Miller Lite and he just drank soda. There are actually probably a lot of people like that.

my uncle usually just drinks sam adams and heineken, coors too but not that much. during the holiday i'll always bring by some stuff i like....while he wont go out of his way to purchase craft beer he always enjoys the stuff i bring over. but i guess some people do have those older relatives that could care less about craft beer and will always just put back the usual bmc crap. doesn't bother me really , if they're curious about what im having ill let them try it sure why not

I pour all my BMC in a snifter. The only way to catch all that aroma and flavor.
