    IDK....
I don't feel like the music I listen to is better than other music. I just happen to like it more, and understand that people have different tastes.
And even my own tastes change, that doesn't mean other music suddenly becomes better than what I used to like.
The world would be a boring place if everyone liked the same things.

There are two ways to look at this, from a snobs point of view and from a non snobs point of view.

Snob: A beer snob is someone who enjoys the finer brews, loves to try anything they can get their hands on that is craft and believes its not worth their time or palate to drink the BMC swill advertised on TV. They see their "snobby" actions as evangelizing rather than annoying and have people's true interests at heart.

Others: That asshole preaching "good beer" and condemning all others (beer and beer drinkers) who don't agree.

I would say to be a snob is a bad thing to a point, however, to support local craft like Beer/food/wine/bourbon/whiskey(insert luxury item here) is important for many reasons beyond the taste or experience you have while enjoying it. Pick any reason really and its a good reason, ie supporting local business, better for the environment, bringing back community etc

It can be very annoying when that dude won't shut the fuck up about that '03 Imperial Barrel Aged blah blah blah they had that one time, but its also a bit annoying to a "snob" when someone claiming to like "good beer" is okay with buying a 12 pack of PBR rather than a 6 pack of something interesting listing taste as a reason.

I'm gonna catch a shit ton of flack for this, but its the way I feel

There's a lot of truth in what you're saying. I would say though, that I see much more derision from the BMC crowd towards those of us that drink craft beer. It also gets irritating when my brother, dad, or whoever says they want an American man's beer as their justification and don't listen when I tell them craft breweries are more "American" than BMC. I get sick of hearing about my RIS or imperial pumpkin every time I have a beer, so these types of threads provide a good laugh for me, since this is the only place I'm not outnumbered!

I'm sorry if I'm tardy to this thread. It reminded me of this one time...

My best friend in LA, I brought him a bottle of HotD Adam. He drank it and said, "It's good bit it's no Busch Light."

I've got a 6-pack of Bud Lite tall boys a friend gave me and I don't drink the stuff. Would anyone be interested in a trade for some Coors Light? I can't find it anywhere here.

I had given up drinking beer when light beers were introduced. Later on I was out on a boat drinking Bud and the boat owner decided to switch to Bud Light the next time we refueled with the idea we would be less drunk. It tasted like Bud with a shot or two of water.

Its amazing how many BMC drinkers wouldn't even consider trying something other than their regular macro's yet they call craft drinkers "snobs".

Some people really take their fizzy yellow stuff about as seriously as they take their local sports franchise; which is to absurdity, and they can't fathom anything else. Bully for them, and their unwillingness to try something else. Are they snobs? No.
You need to have refined yourself to be a snob. i.e. done the deed and taken the time to cultivate that arrogance of knowing more and being a gangster for it, or just be penny wise and pound foolish. i.e. have the access to the options yet still never buy the ticket to the ride of a lifetime. Either way. They are narrow minded.

I'd be interested in seeing a map of which states favor which of the 3 main BMC beers.

I always found it odd that Miller Lite dominates the Chicago area (and the rest of Illinois apparantly), but next door in Indiana and on the other side in Iowa and Missouri, the BMC crowd drinks Bud Light.

My go to place here in NY, the Black Sheep Ale House, will still sell you BMC in a bottle. They call themselves Enthusiasts and not Snobs about beer, but they are legit. I encourage anyone to view their menu and you will see that is without question. The reason for the BMC remaining is two-fold. First, they feel that if your friend is a BMC drinker, theyre not going to judge or exclude them from a night out due to this shortcoming. And, they also feel like if there isnt a place where BMC devotees can come and be exposed to good beer, how are they ever going to see the light. In my experience, I have seen folks make a face when they were told that they have Blue Moon in bottle but not on tap, as a for instance, and pass when a clearly superior beer was offered in a taster. Ive seen the faces when Shock Top, Bud Light Platinum and Bud Light Lime were not available (The guys at the Sheep will only go so far after all). And Ive seen people look at the taps and say things like, "What is all this? I cant drink this stuff." Mind you, these experiences are few and far between. I'd say there are folks who see Craft as a fad, or too fru fru (sp?). And as such are looked down upon by the hardcore BMC devotee, but I'd say thats more a testament to that person's resistance to change and trying new things, rather than their really believing that their Bud is just better. Education is the answer to so many of the problems that plague our society. I'd say it is such in the realm of Craft Beer as well.

I have a friend who drinks nothing but Bud Light. He knows the taste of Bud Light so well that he can tell when bars have hooked up Busch or Natty Light instead just to try and pinch a few pennies. There have been several times where he has called the bar out on this practice and every time he has been right... It's kind of scary; I mean his fine-tuned Bud Light palate, and the number of bars that are doing this.

    YES, absolutely, BMC snobs exist.

Here's the other thing that is surprising - many of them who aren't necessarily outright snobs think, honestly think, that they are drinking the good beer and you are drinking some inferior, fad product. One BMC guy I know compared it to designer jeans - cost more and really is no better at all than an ordinary pair of Levi's.

This is only for the big name brand adjunct lagers though. Budweiser, Miller, Coors are top shelf stuff. If you're drinking Busch or Natty Light then that's a sort of 2nd tier down. But craft beer is just some weird shit that isn't really deserving to be on that ladder at all. Tastes like leaves and twigs.

I've seen this firsthand and always laughed my ass off as I watched people be served the wrong adjunct lager and didn't notice - the one I nearly peed my pants because the guy started telling his tablemate how much he loves this particular adjunct lager, is his favorite, only buys this one, etc.
