I know people who will only drink the same exact beer out of a bottle as opposed to a can and vice versa

Good observation. I would really be interested in the 4 I listed just to see if they could pick it out - don't really trust the scene from Beer Wars. I know most light beer drinkers can tell if it's the regular version, i.e. Bud Light vs. Bud; I'm just curious if there is much difference between the lights.

Blind Lady Ale House in San Diego used to have Bland Beer Contest with 7 beers (including some Mexican style). Here are the results:

I didn't do it in 2010 but I did in 2011. I doubt that I could pick out a PBR over a Miller High Life because I have probably tasted less than 24 oz of each in my entire life.

That's a BMC snob, IMO. Actually, just a C snob.

Hahaha. I remember when I was 10 my family went on a cruise. I ate nothing but buttered noodles and a few hotdogs. I still hate seafood now after trying most of it. It either looks fucking disgusting or has a nasty aftertaste I can't handle. I've tried many things since then including a few insects, but I still make the occasional buttered egg noodles to have with something else.

I guess these people are proof that advertising works. In contrast, beer brand loyalty is pretty much absent over here in Sweden which is probably to do with the absence of much in the way of beer advertising (especially tv commercials) up until the last few years, when there's been an explosion of tv commercials for alcohol (which may or may not change things in the future). The biggest selling brands can see a 10% drop in sales, or a 20% rise over the span of a year for no apparent reason (apart from occasional label changes) so beer drinkers obviously pick and choose rather freely inbetween the several dozen different pale lager brands sold in the monopoly.

Most bars and restaurants are supplied by one of the Swedish macro breweries, typically Carlsberg Sweden or Spendrups, with a few being supplied by the smaller Ă…bro brewery. But I've yet to come across an instance where someone refuses to buy a beer because the place in question only serves beer from one of these breweries. Alot of people have beers which they prefer over others, but they will drink whatever is served pretty much. At family get togethers you drink the beer which is being served regardless of the brand, and the brands being served vary greatly from occasion to occasion. From the perspective of the average beer drinker I find this attitude to be alot more understandable and sensible, it makes it possible for people to try different beers and find their favorite among the different macro brands without premature brand loyalty getting in the way.

Brand loyalty and macho insecurities are a potent cocktail of bullshit sometimes.

So maybe "snob" isn't the right term. I have to try all the beers available to me. All the newest craft releases, and I get pretty excited about it. I'm wondering if there's people who get as excited about lime a rita and batch 19 and the like. I've never met one but they must be out there to perpetuate these ridiculous bowtie cans and miller lite cider type releases. Do people actually fall for those stupid marketing schemes?

I think the guy that sums it up best is the one in the dos equis commercial who says "I don't usually drink beer, but when I do , I prefer dos equis."

A buddy of mine raves about Black Crown because its so smooth and gets him drunk faster. I think it's funny, but that's his favorite.
Plenty of people do rave about the newest Shock Top, Blue Moon or Shiner product, but would I call them snobs? Typically not at all. Most of the people who are adventurous enough to stray away from the normal AALs wanna know what else is out there, and offerings from those breweries will probably be their gateway into the rest of what the beer world has to offer. Some of those people will probably end up being snobs who look down on BMC one day, and some may continue to enjoy the new beers that come strictly from those brands and enjoy the shit out of it.

    Sure there are.
They hang out in the parking lot of Raiders games, watch NASCAR and have lifted Chevy's, Ford's and Dodge's with chrome ball-sacks under their hitch on the back bumper. May also have some tacky shit on their mudflaps.

Being a snob is judging someone because they are doing/thinking/eating/drinking something that is "low class."

The opposite of snob would be someone who is judging someone because they are doing/thinking/eating/drinking something that is "high class."

I don't know what the best word is to describe someone like that, but such people do exist and they are more prevalent than snobs in my opinion.

I haven't drunk enough BMC to be able to tell beers by name, but I have noticed that I can tell a pretty big difference between corn beers and rice beers. Bud and other rice beers usually have a nasty rice aftertaste that's quite distinct from a hops aftertaste, while corn beers don't have this. As a result I actually really like PBR and Busch but I don't like Budweiser.

Both of those types of people fall into the "Jackass" category. We need a good slang term for people who specifically fall into the second subcategory you mentioned though.

I can see how the rice vs. corn thing as a comparison of flavor could be noticeable, but I doubt you heard that PBR and Busch are made with corn and Budweiser is made with rice from a reliable source. If there's a list of AALs made with corn and a list of those made with rice, I'd love to see it because it would be interesting to see the difference for myself.
