After seeing all the beers thrown at Beatification Batch 5 in the trading forum, I was curious to see what people were looking to get for a Batch 4. I haven't noticed many ISOs for it.

A lot of people arent searching for batch 4 because its much easier to get b5 and why pony up the diff in asking price for a batch thats only a few months different in vintage.

Ah, I see. But how much of a difference in asking price can there be when I have seen people offering Rare+ for Batch 5?

    Where did you see that?

Shit, you know what? That was Vanilla DL I was thinking of. Sorry. But it seems that big beers have still been offered up for 5 (and 3, of course) , but I don't notice much talk of 4.

What jsilva said. What a bottle of Batch 4 could pull is requiring multiples of Batch 5 to pull. There's not enough of B4 to go around (my understanding!).

Somewhere on here I saw a b4 went straight up for a 375ml blabaer. Only 250 bottles released and the staff at RR kept 50 bottles. Sure its probably not that much different from batch 5 but the collectors will want it.

Anybody who offers up more for batch 4 than for batch 5 probably has OCD, and needs to complete their vertical. There is probably little to no difference in these batches other than your "collectible bottle" has a different stamp.

Does anyone have any hard facts as to why there was such a short supply of batch 4 and a huge batch was released shortly after?

A guy told me that Vinnie told him that he wanted to mindf*ck beer geeks.

I traded pretty heavily for one (despite knowing B5 would be a much bigger batch) and the other I got hooked up with (though I sent a pretty good package out to the great BA who picked it up for me).

All in all, I'm happy I have them. Will they be crazy different from B5? Who knows. I haven't heard of anyone doing a side by side.

Will they be sought after by people wanting to complete their verticals in the future? Almost certainly.

Do I care? No - I'm keeping mine :grinning:

Isn't batch 2 only a few months difference from batch 3?

Does batch 4 taste different from batch 5? I haven't had the former, but I imagine they're from the same batch and the first was released as a publicity stunt. Just speculation.

As I understand it, 4 and 5 are both from the same wort, but Vinnie decided one particular barrel was ready for release before the rest, and that became b4.

I just always treated b2 and 3 different because of bottling size and correct me if im wrong but although they came out closer together than others they were two entirely different batches? Where im not sure 4+5 could be called different batches. Ill eventually do a side by side or im sure theres a few who already have and can weigh in on any differences between the two.

I remember they were bottled opposite ends of the year. I don't remember the actual release dates though. But batch 3 is aging significantly better than batch 2, possibly due to bottle size.

Yes, 2 and 3 were entirely separate batches, but it sounds like 4 and 5 were not, though the barrels were different. More akin to PH1 vs 1 I guess. I'd love to see someone who has had both 4+5 chime in.

Me too then it can save me from opening my b4 just to find out

I've had multiples of both 4 and 5 and slightly preferred 5. Though honestly the difference was almost imperceptible.

What's the history of bottle sizes with Beatification? Sounds like b2 was 375ml, too? What about ph1 and b1?
