There's constant posts on BA about "whales," hyped up beers, release dates for much coveted beers, etc., etc. But none of these beers ever seem to be lagers.

Now, I don't want to get into the whole discussion of why ales dominate the American craft market or why lagers get the shaft by so many people; however I would like to hear opinions on what the most hyped lager is. I am just curious.

    Thanks in advance!

Recently, Jack's Abby Hoponius Union has been getting a lot of mention around here. Seems to be a favorite for a lot of Mass. locals.

Boston Lager? I can't think of any limited release lagers sooooo the most purchased one must be the most hyped?

hype means ad copy, not praise. question is empirical; consult brewery press releases, commercials, and claims in the trading forum.

    Probably something like Ayinger Celebrator.

I guess other noteworthy ones would be Rogue Dead Guy, DFH My Antonia, Southern Tier Krampus...

Hoponius Lager is pretty amazing. I had some while in Massachusetts over Easter.

Not necessarily hyped but definitely the (American) "craft" lager I see around these parts that gets the most attention is Victory Prima Pils.

If The Livery bottles Trippelweizenbock, Kentucky Kaffinator, Cherry Bomb or Runemeister we will see some lager whales.
