Forgive me because I've never been great at communicating what my palate is experiencing but, there is this flavor or mouthfeel or just a character of some beers that I really hate that I don't how to explain.

    Is it a yeasty taste?

I just tried Dogfish Head Namaste and it had this weird taste and feel that I just didn't like. Rogue Dead Guy Ale is another example of it.

No offense to anyone who likes those beers, but I just don't like whatever that taste is. Can anyone explain what that is?

Understatement of the year. Seriously, you are gonna have to give us some sort of descriptor to work off off.

When you drink these beers do you smell burnt toast?

It's kind of this dry tartness? Again, I'm not good at describing these types of things but I thought someone would know the common factor, if any, between these two beers.

does each beer give you the exact same weird taste?

it is possible you just don't like those beers

Yeah they both have that common character. This might have been a stupid thread to start but I was just dying to know what this might be called so I can avoid it.

Like a chalky, asprin taste? Or more like a citrus zest or citrus rind bitterness?

Those beers are both brewed with water. Do you not like water?

They might be past their prime. So it's probably just Stale. Find a Fresh Namaste and see if you experience the same thing. Or you it might be the Yeast. Try another Witbier and see if you get the same result.

My bet is oxidation. Every Namaste I've had tasted really oxidized. But what do I know?

Every time I try a Rogue Dead Guy I get a really oxidized character from it -- think of the smell of wet cardboard and translate it to flavor. Is that the character?

Its not a stupid thread to start but there just aren't many common things between the two beers.

    Were they both fresh?

Can't speak for the Rogue beer but DFH Namaste has coriander and a black pepper hint to it. I'm actually a big fan of this beer. Some how the flavors are very interesting and play off each other nicely into an easy to drink summer brew (or anytime for that matter).

DFH doesn't use Ringwood in Namaste. It's most definitely a Belgian strain of some sort. And Dead Guy is made with Pacman yeast. I'd be more inclined to believe oxidation.
