Thinking back to when i was a kid in the early 70's, I remember my old man coming home from work and sucking down a couple Stroh's or a few Iron City beers when I was a kid growing up near Pittsburgh. For as bad as both those beers were, they hold a bit of nostalgia for me...but oh, boy were they bad!

    Jim Beam!
edit: my dad and I both get stuffed up a bit when we drink beer, so he sticks with bourbon - however - ever since my nosedive into craft fandom, he's been hot on my heels and very interested in what I'll have for him to try next.

I think it was Michelob. Though he did drink others: Hamms, Dos Equis, Olympia...

Stone IPA. My dad was growing his own hops for his homebrews when I was a little kid. He let my brother and me try them every now and then, and we both thought they were awful.

My dad was an alcoholic for the majority of my life. He was drinking, he would have warm Old Milwaukee hidden in the garage because it was cheap. Thankfully he has been sober for a few years.

My dad always kept Miller High Life in the house, mainly for boiling brats, but two of his favorite beers were Tyranena's Bitter Woman and Central Waters' Brewhouse Coffee Stout. He was ahead of the huge craft beer boom and certainly ahead of my palate at the time but I raise those two beers to him often now.

Amstel Light is what I remember when I was growing up. Heinekin as well.

Now he drinks a lot more styles brands. He likes to raid my brews when he's at my house.

My dad drank (and still drinks) Labatt Blue, but he also used to home brew a lot with his buddy. I have a copy of all his recipes and notes and it seems they did pale ales usually, and almost always added honey to kick up the ABV.

I think my dad used to buy Coors, but he would drink any BMC beer. Man, I remember going places like BW3's and him drinking like 3/4 tall beers with dinner. He used to drink a lot more, now he's basically (pre)diabetic so for a bit he would drink Michelob Ultra, but he doesn't drink much now. He tells stories about older Cincinnati beers though from when he was younger (Hudepohl, Burger, Little Kings...etc.)

He usually tries anything I offer him though, and more and more now if a restaurant has local beer -- he'll get one. That, I think, is an effect of myself and my uncle and some cousins being really into craft/local beer.
